No, the whole show is idiotic. I can't stand it.

But exactly how was he "idiotic"? Maybe he was too naive and too sheltered some times, but he was also a straight A student who eventually got into Princeton.

* decorating a half of a christmas tree with too many weird ornaments
* laughing at a dead bird at court
* creating a security dummy for accompanyment, which means nothing
* acting like a wuss while being a bodyguard
* acting like lazy exercised person to Stan, the weight trainer
* saying YMCA in front of Mad Dog which is unrelated
...

You'll find more along the way, but since he does not act like a helpless person, we can continue punching him as a much as possible whenever he does weird things, IMO.

And by the way, I don't believe that I remember any of those things in your list. Did they all maybe happen in the 6th season? Because that is the season, that I have seen the fewest times, so I have forgotten many details about it. But I know that by that point, Carlton had become more goofy and silly than what he was in the beginning. And if you base your whole opinion of him on that season alone, I can see why you would get such a skewed view of him.
