"Scandal" Season 6 is a "Return to Form," Says ABC Boss
by Natalie Abrams
8/4/16
Though viewers will have to wait until mid-season, "Scandal’s" upcoming sixth season is a “return to form,” according to new ABC President Channing Dungey.
Asked at the Television Critics Association’s press tour about the future of Scandal, Dungey was quick to defend the Shonda Rhimes political fixer drama.
“It was the fifth season this year,” Dungey said.
“Long-running shows, there’s always a little bit of ebb and flow. We have read the first script for the new season and it’s fantastic. It feels very much like a return to form.”
The fifth season averaged around 10.68 million viewers, down from the 12.66 million from season 4 and the 12 million from season 3.
Despite some recent confusion that season 6 would be "Scandal’s" last — it’s not — Dungey said they have not had discussions about setting an end date.
