I could try to do some kind of Harry Potter reference, but I’m not well-versed in the lore. I don’t want to come across like a Muggle, so I’ll just say that the boy who played The Boy Who Lived has made it all the way to 27. Daniel Radcliffe played the boy wizard in eight hit movies from 2001-2011. (Daffy Stardust ranked them all in a Harry Potter Worst to First (https://lebeauleblog.com/2015/10/16/worst-to-first-ranking-the-harry-potter-films/).) Since the series ended, he has defied the long odds that face child actors and continues to work on stage and screen.

One of Radcliffe’s recent jobs was a sequel no one really wanted. But Now You See Me 2 had Radcliffe sharing the screen with fellow birthday boy Woody Harrelson (https://lebeauleblog.com/2017/07/23/july-23-happy-birthday-alison-krauss-and-ronny-cox/). Harrelson rose to fame playing the dim-witted bartender at Cheers. Eventually the entire cast of Cheers perused movie careers, but Harrelson’s has been the most enduring. While he is no longer a leading man, Harrelson can be seen in supporting roles in movies like The Hunger Games and the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes.

The former TV star has been nominated for an Oscar twice. He was nominated for Best Actor in 1996 for The People Vs. Larry Flynt and in 2009 he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for The Messenger. To date, the Oscar eludes Harrelson, but he did win a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor in 1993 for Indecent Proposal.

Fun Fact: In his youth Harrelson worked as a wood carver at Kings Island in Mason, OH. Coworkes described him as “shy”. Harrelson turns 55 today.
