"The Young and The Restless" has conjured up some out-of-this-world casting to celebrate its 11,000th episode. (Yeah, you read that number right.)
Nichelle Nichols, who played "Star Trek‘s" Lieutenant Uhura from 1966-69, will appear on two upcoming episodes of the CBS soap, Mashable reports. Her character, Lucinda, will share an “emotional connection” with a resident of Genoa City.
“I’m thrilled and honored to be a member of the cast of this historic moment in daytime television,” Nichols tells the site. “I’ve been a huge fan of The Young and the Restless for decades. I’m equally honored to be from Chicago like the Bell Family who created this incredible TV show.”
Nichols will first appear on Sept. 1.
