Television psychic and infomercial star Miss Cleo, whose commercials were omnipresent on late-1990s and early-2000s television, has died at the age of 53, TMZ reports. She passed away in Palm Beach County, FL, after losing her battle to colon cancer which spread to her liver and lungs.

Miss Cleo -- real name Youree Dell Harris -- worked for the Psychic Readers Network and was shown predicting the futures of callers on commercials by using tarot cards and speaking in her trademark Jamaican accent, though Harris was born in Los Angeles. She was known for her catch phrase "Call me now!" to entice viewers to get information on the identity of their baby's father, where they could earn money and love advice.

In 2002, the Federal Trade Commission eventually shut down Miss Cleo and her promoters on charges of fraudulent advertising, though Harris herself was never indicted.

Most recently, Harris hosted an internet radio show in Florida, and in 2002 she voiced Auntie Poulet in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Aww, she was so young. Colon cancer is so curable if detected early.

In other words, people should have regular checkups

Yes, and after age 40, have a colonoscopy every seven years.

I wonder how they feel comfortable advertising . Do the stations that advertise ever look into the honesty of the ads?

I use to imitate the commercials all the time. They were a true staple of the 90s.
