:confused: What's with all the reboots? It's like they take every show that was made from the past, and reboot them. I wonder what they will reboot next? Burns and Allen? Jack Benny? After they reboot all the old tv shows, then they will reboot old time radio shows for tv. The Aldrich Family? Fibber McGee & Molly? The Great Gildersleeve?

Because Hollywood is "out" of ideas. In reality they aren't, they are just too afraid to use new ideas because they don't follow the typical formula. They're too afraid to break the mold and be different. That's why you see so many reboots

I agree with the previous poster, Hollywood is out of idea's. I'll also add they are apparently brain dead because the new shows they do come up with aren't worth watching. What's bad about that is those reboots, if they are made, will be set in the 90s not the 50s which will be bad. Another thing is that Garry Marshall wouldn't be around to produce the two shows since he died a few days ago

I'm on the other side of the fence sort of. I am looking forward to the reboot of the Gilmore Girls coming up in November. The show ended/cancelled with so many questions hopefully will be answered with the reboot. However I don't like reboots of movies like Ghostbusters, Karate Kid, etc. Somethings should just be left alone.

Maybe. There's already word that a One Day at a Time reboot with a Hispanic cast is coming to Netflix I think in 2017. It would be great if they keep the original theme music.

About the only genre that does well with reboots are game shows. $100,000 Pyramid and Match Game have been my go-to shows on Sunday nights this summer.

I've watched some of the new Hawaii Five-O here and there, but give me Jack Lord anyday. Most of the other reboots are in name only, and I see why they get canceled so quickly.

I'm a big fan of the old classic game shows and I love Match Game with Gene Rayburn. Nobody can replace him.

And the three-season TNT Dallas was more of a continuation than a reboot, as many of the original-recipe players were still in there-- Hagman, Duffy, Gray, Kercheval, et al.

Yes we saw a sneak peek, the guy looks like he's 12. My husband loves the original and said he'll pass on the new one.

And I felt the same way about Hawaii Five-O as well: that the original (Five-O) was and is far better than the reboot (Five-0).

The sad thing is, that when kids grow up and talk about five-0 they will mean the reboot. Leaving the org forgotten :(

The reason why reboots of well-known franchises have become commonplace in the 2010s is because Hollywood is more culturally and ethnically diverse right now than it was in the past. For example, a role played by a White (Caucasian) actor in the original series is played be an African American, or Hispanic, or Asian actor in the remake of that series.

The reason we keep getting revival/reboot is because it's a "safe bet." Banking on an already fan favorite that has a following and taking advantage of the fan's nostalgia of these shows are easy money for these studios and networks.

Honestly, I feel revivals/reboots are a hit or miss. I personally don't mind some of them. Some of them have the original cast in current day (revival), while some of them use a completely new cast (reboot). The revivals are typically better but even then, I have my exceptions. I've seen revivals, ahem Murphy Brown and Girl Meets World, that completely missed the mark and should have NEVER happened. I can't think of one reboot that I actually liked (and we're not counting international versions from the same decade as the American shows, as I know there were quite a few of these from the '70s).

I think the reboots that try to reboot just for a more diverse cast is a bad idea. I know it's not PC to say that but doing a reboot for just the sake of that feels like they're pandering or trying to appease our overly-PC culture and it's a cheap attempt at modernizing an already classic. For example, the One Day At A Time reboot is a good current example of this. And this upcoming Bewitched reboot with an interracial cast seem like a pander in which the sole focus is on race. It's like they're trying to make some political statement about how the wife is marginalized as a black woman compared to her white husband. It's never a good idea to base the plot around politics because it can be divisive, but that didn't seem to phase them! I mean, none of us have seen the reboot, but just by the description in the press release, makes me want to roll my eyes. Because I mean is it really modernized, if we're STILL drawing attention to someone's race? I thought we moved on from that. Apparently ABC, who is doing the Bewitched reboot, hasn't.

So, yeah, please no more reboots (or revivals)!
