Is there any way to prevent getting postal mail with a certain person's name attached? I asked the post office years ago and unfortunately they weren't helpful. I've tried writing return to sender, doesn't live here. It doesn't help.

Every now and again mail with the name of my ex-stepfather [who is a registered sex offender] on it. It botheres me. I don't want to see his name. He has never lived at this address, thank God. I received a magazine with his name on it yesterday.

We occasionally get mail for the family that used to live here. It's not enough to complain about and we simply mark it as no longer at this address and put it back in the box. I eventually started taking my pen to the box and marking it right then if anything showed up.

Other than getting your former step-father to take care of it himself by using the USPS change of address form then you may be stuck with getting his mail. Unfortunately, he's the one that has to do it and understandably you have no desire to deal with him. Have you tried calling your local post office and speaking directly with the Postmaster? If not then do so and explain the situation. If you already have then just disregard that.

I googled the number of the magazine and explained the situation. The woman said that she will suspend the subscription, but that I will still receive one more issue. She told me that it looks like a third party magazine company is where the subscription was generated.

^ I hate that too, I write a note on the envelope or put a post-it on the magazine saying that person doesn't live here. But your way will solve the problem at the source.

I get that a lot as well...I'm planning on stopping at the Lorain Road Post Office and ask what to do with this excess mail that I'm getting...
