There was a time when it felt like All-American Hollywood dreamboat Chris O’Donnell was everywhere. Early in his career, he made a name for himself in a string of hit movies that included Fried Green Tomatoes, School Ties, and Scent of a Woman; by the mid-’90s, he was veritable heartthrob, starring against Drew Barrymore in the steamy drama Mad Love. Since 2009, the actor has appeared as G. Callen in the CBS drama NCIS: Los Angeles, but as of late, big-budget blockbuster roles appear to be in short supply. What happened?

The last 2 Batman movies were trash. I'm glad he made better choices later on in his life.

I am guessing with Chris O'Donnell it is was partly due to his young family, and partly due to the roles he would have gotten at one time started going to he peers like Matt Damon and to a degree Matthew McConaughey. He was OK with the younger supporting roles like Scent of a Woman and Batman Forever, but I am not sure Chris had enough charisma to be a leading man on the big screen once he was passed the male ingenue stage.

I think that had Chris O'Donnell started out now, he would likely have Chris Evans' career. Like Evans, O'Donnell was during his '90s prime, boy next door handsome and could do do comedies, dramas, and action films. But it just never clicked for O'Donnell once the Batman franchise ran its course. It's nice that he has a steady paycheck now with NCIS: LA, but doing a CBS procedural still feels like a bit of a come-down from his '90s heyday.
