What I mean is.... DO YOU ENJOY WATCHING GOOD ANALOG SHOWS FROM THE PAST IN DIGITAL FORM??

I really do not....... It doesnt look the same or sound as good....... I would love seeing all the shows I loved in the 80s and earlier IN ANALOGUE like I did then!!


THIS DIGITAL CRAP MAKES STUFF LOOK FLAT,UN-NATURAL AND DISGUSTING....... One reason why I have not watched ANY TV in 4 years or so ...... I hate the look of this crap!!

Its sad......... All of our beautiful TV stuff shown in this VOID that means nothing (It has no value,no meaning),not really pleasant watching like it was then over analog cable or even OVER THE AIR tv!!

If you think that's bad, try watching videos of classic shows on YouTube. It is simply incredible and sad what people have done to the world's most popular video site. It seems that nobody is happy anymore to watch episodes of their favourite series the way they were intended to be seen. They have been edited, cut, extended, and layered with more special effects than a Star Wars movie, all to give them a more modern 21st century look which to me seems terribly wrong. Here are a few examples:

Sickening isn't it? And another thing, whenever someone complains about the videos being copyright infringement and should be removed, it's the ones that were made the right way that get tossed. The grossly butchered ones stay put. That won't bother me too much. Whenever I want to watch, post, upload, download, stream or do anything with a video I want to first make sure they're done right, which is becoming more increasingly difficult and frustrating for me. A better alternative might be DailyMotion. I'm becoming more impressed with them every day.

The older shows looked better on CRT TVs than the modern ones.

There is no way to get taped home recordings of shows prior to the late 1970's. Very few recordings from before then exist.

Though you can get 16mm copies on eBay; just make sure they're network prints, and also make sure you have the money.

I watched The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show on a HDTV at my sister's house when she had her annual half-birthday party for my niece. It looks like it can be filmed today with a monochrome camera.

I like watching vintage 50s and early 60s shows in b & w.

While I know many go gaga over color and other updated technology, watching the shows in their orig. format just feels like a more authentic experience.

But to those who want the bells and whistles go for it & have a nice trip.

I refuse to watch seasons 1 & 2 of "Bewitched" in color; also, season 1 of "I Dream of Jeannie". I like the original B&W.

On the other hand, I do enjoy watching the new colorized episodes of "I Love Lucy" but I wouldn't buy new colorized season sets if they were released.

Before high definition became popular and before digital I never had a problem with the picture or sound quality on TV.And of course every program filled the screen,none of that black bar nonsense on the tops and/or sides of the picture. They tried to fix what was not broken and instead caused a lot of problems.

I agree. I wonder if the newer flatscreen TVs have improved the quality,but I doubt it.

Most ClassYes I like watching them in their original format.I hate how they change the format of certain shows. For example, Try watching The Twilight Zone on SyFy and tell me what you think. The format that is used is awful

I don't mind the format so much. The reason that I don't watch classic shows on TV today is that you can't go for 30 seconds without having a commercial flashing on the screen to distract you. I basically don't watch 80% of the TV channels because I refuse to put up with that.

What I normally do is watch sports and movies in HD and everything else in SD. That way, I am sure of watching the shows and events that I like and want to see the way they are meant to be seen.

Well thank you buddy...... This is something thats quite important to me so I wanted to see how others felt.........

Hmmm... Digital in itself isn't a problem if you think the picture looks flat etc... It's the compression a station uses to save bandwidth... Even old B&W films or shows like the Twilight Zone that are on Blu-ray, and viewed on my 1080 plasma tv kicks butt... And that's the way it was intended to be seen..

I'm the same way. My favorite pizza is Little Caesars but I can't stand Mike Ilitch and both of his teams.

All I have to say is that classic shows are meant to be watched in their original form. Almost all classic shows are better left in their original format. The newer format is for newer shows and them only. I'd rather watch my classic shows on an old 80s big Tv set if I could. Unfortunately, I don't have one so I'm going to stick to my DVDs for good entertainment and original format viewing

In their original form? you must mean film? If you mean CRT tvs then that doesn't quite live up to the original film.. How about movies from the 50s that were filmed in widescreen, then were chopped to fit the TV 4:3 format? That good old fashioned CRT TV displays about 300 x 480i resolution.. all the dots you're seeing must be giving the illusion of texture..

The newer format? Even old 4:3 works on the "new format".. and if you don't like the "Black Bars" on the sides or top, do like they did in the movie theaters - cover that part of the screen with curtains. clearly, anyone that thinks VHS or old tvs are better than today is mistaken... Let's go back to the 80s when tv stations were adding everything to video tape.. The problem then wasn't so much the video tape, but the source... they used the old films laying around for decades that needed to be cleaned up and restored.. and then just transferred those to video tape... The same thing happened when DVD came out... Many things were simply transferred from old video tapes. You need to go back to the original source of good clean prints. When you put that on DVD or blueray it's far, far superior. You're all having a nostalgia kick and miss the interference on the screen when someone used an electrical appliance LOL
