View Full Version : Has the INSP Channel changed its image lately?
Hawkee 07-07-2016, 02:14 AM When I sometimes see the INSP Channel I seem to think that they are going in a new direction and attract a new audience. Because when I have seen INSP Channel they seem to show nothing but Bonanza and Matlock reruns and also lots of Walker Texas Ranger episodes. Is this because INSP Channel is trying to add a more interesting lineup or is it to compete with the Up Channel? I remember when INSP showed lots of fun classic sitcoms like Happy Days and The Brady Bunch and it was so wonderful to watch but if you see INSP Channel today you'll find no more sitcoms and it seems with the addition of repeats of dramas it seems that this is a new road that INSP Channel is traveling down to gain a huge audience. Another thing INSP Channel has done that I cannot figure out is every Saturday morning to Saturday night is an hour called Saddle Up Saturdays which is devoted to nothing but Westerns and Western movies and I think INSP should have a whole hour of classic sitcoms like Family Ties Eight Is Enough That Girl and much more and that would make INSP Channel more wonderful indeed

I actually contacted them a few times asking if they planned to add more shows to keep the channel fresh. They are more of a classic western channel these days. The Walton's and other shows have been on SO long and there are only so many times you can watch their lineup over and over and over....
If you make a comment on their facebook page, they just say, we'll forward that to our programming dept so I ended up calling the programming dept quite a while back.
They seem to have no interest in changing things from what I was told. The person from programming said each time they try to cut back on their current shows in any way people pitch a fit. At one time I loved UP which was once GMC but I don't care for the shows they air now.
icecream 07-07-2016, 03:45 PM The Walton's and other shows have been on SO long and there are only so many times you can watch their lineup over and over and over.... INSP is the only channel that currently airs The Waltons so I wouldn't want that to be dropped. The westerns and Walker, Texas Ranger though, I could do without. Their best lineup was a few years back when they had Our House, Highway to Heaven, and Wind at My Back along with The Waltons from 5-10PM. I suggested they air season 9 of Heartland when UP dropped it but don't think they were interested.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Walton's but at this point...I have watched it so many times from start to finish that I know word for word what they'll say and just need a long break from it. They could also cut down on how many times per day or week they air a show so they could show other things. There is really no need to air one show 2,3 or 4 times a day unless it's a marathon.
Many years ago they aired Our House but took it off pretty quick. I begged them to put it back on but they still haven't. Basically I am really burned out on the shows they air, they have been airing them a LONG time with the exception of a few. Even Matlock which I loved was on other channels like Hallmark and you can't watch them but so many times. I am a firm believer that these channels need to switch shows once in a while to keep them fresh and stop people from getting burned out on them. There are a LOT of classic shows they could air that everyone would love to see again but they choose not to.
BigManMike 07-07-2016, 05:39 PM I like the Waltons but some of the other Westerns are extremely boring.

treky 07-09-2016, 01:35 AM I don't think we have INSP, are they a new "retro-channel"?

The channel's been around since the 1970's, but it wasn't until 2010 that it started re running TV shows.

INSP is a religious channel. They are very careful what they air. I think that's why they air so many old westerns, they are safe.
Hawkee 10-16-2016, 05:40 AM It seems that INSP Channel is starting to improve a lot and I think with the addition of The Jeff Foxworthy Show INSP Channel will add more reruns of classic sitcoms such as Mr. Belvedere Alice Growing Pains The Hogan Family and even classic medical dramas such as St. Elsewhere Marcus Welby MD and also reruns of Rescue 911 would work for INSP Channel as well. Another thing INSP Channel is doing that's very impressive is have a very unique hour of shows called Destination Fridays that is full of shows about antiques and that's awesome. So I think INSP Channel is going for a whole new look and an amazing lineup that will keep fans interested for years to come

It doesn't need improvement, when they start adding shows that they wouldn't normally air, they'll become just another generic channel that shows the same tired old shows.
