Archie Panjabi Joins "Blindspot" for Season 2

Archie Panjabi is heading to "Blindspot", TVGuide.com has learned.

"The Good Wife" alum has landed a "major recurring role" in Season 2, playing the head of a secret division of the NSA that's been monitoring the Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) case from afar.



So far, no character name has been given, but here's a thought: Is it possible Panjabi is playing "Shepherd," the mysterious leader of Oscar's (Francois Arnaud) organization?

When TVGuide.com spoke to series creator Martin Gero last month, he told us that Shepherd is someone we haven't seen before, but who will be "vastly important" in Season 2. (When asked whether Panjabi has in fact been cast as Shepherd, NBC said her character name is "still TBD." But it's fun to speculate!)



"Blindspot's" Season 1 finale ended with Jane killing Oscar and then winding up in handcuffs after Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) discovered that she wasn't Taylor Shaw after all.

Will Panjabi's character be her friend or foe?

Archie Panjabi Returns for "Blindspot" Season 3

Archie Panjabi has booked a return trip to "Blindspot", EW has learned exclusively. The Emmy-winning actress will appear in an episode slated for the second half of the season.

"The Good Wife" alum joined the show in season 2 as Nas Kamal, the head of a secret off-book division of the NSA who aligned with the FBI to take down Sandstorm.




She also briefly had a fling with Kurt (Sullivan Stapleton), before ultimately leaving by taking the fall for the team when AUSA Weitz opened an investigation into their mistakes in hunting Sandstorm. She returned briefly in the season 2 finale when Shepherd was arrested and placed in Nas’ custody.

“We’re so elated to have the tremendous Archie Panjabi back for a very exciting one-off episode this year!” executive producer Martin Gero tells EW. “I can’t say much about what will happen in the episode yet, but Nas will play a small but integral part in bringing down the bad guys this year.”
