Geoff Johns was named as co-runner of the DCEU partly because he'd already helped DC created an extended, interconnected universe—on television. At the Warners-owned CW network, Johns shepherded Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow to the small screen. It's a typical DC maneuver: they've created two entirely separate interconnected universes, using some of the same characters, meaning they're actually competing with themselves for their own fans. This is what happens when the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing: you slap yourself in the face.
