Im looking for a member from Malaysia or someone that might have family there that would be willing to record some programs off of Disney XD for me. There are some rare Japanese anime airing on that network with English dubbing that will never be released in North America, Australia, or Europe. I will pay a very fair sum for the time and effort. Please reply here or message me if you can help.

Hello, Ranger, sorry, I'm not from Malaysia but I noticed that you collect Japanese anime. I collect some of those myself, so I was wondering if you have Shonen Ninja which I saw during the early 1970s.
But my main interest is the Samurai Live-action TV shows especially Oedo Sosamo (Samurai Secret Agents of Edo) which ran for many years in Japan. If you know of anyone in Japan who has those, then please let me know. Thank you Ranger.

Yeah I have a few friends who live in Japan, I can get anything if its been released to vhs or dvd. Stuff thats only available through home recordings is a bit harder to find.

What vintage anime do you have? Im always looking to trade, I have tons of anime from the 1920s-today. Also many sentai and tokusatsu shows. I also have a few boxes of samurai shows from the 80s and 90s recorded from Japanese tv.

Yes that's the one because I remember the name of Fujimaru being sung repeatedly in the lyrics. Since your collection of anime extends way back into the 1920s, you've got me beaten. The only noteworthy ones I have are Astro Boy and Mazinga. Didn't Zabohga have both live action and anime?

In the 1920s, producer Makino Shozo produced silent films such as Kurama Tengu who was a Swordsman wearing a black Hood and using both Sword and Pistol. So popular was that character that there have been at least eight actors who portrayed him as far as I know. I have a few episodes of the rare TV series starring Meguro Yuki. My collection of anime is small when compared to the live-action Samurai that I have. I really need to complete my collection of the Samurai secret agents of Edo that I mentioned. That series was the finest job of actor Matsukata Hiroki's career. That man could swing a Sword like nobody's business! I was greatly saddened upon hearing of his passing last year, although he was already in his 70s. I think the last movie he made was the Return of Yagyu Jubei, a role made famous by his father Konoe Jushiro. As far as tokusatsu, I am looking for any Swordplay heroes such as LionMaru and Ninja Arashi. I remember that LionMaru later added another Swordsman called Tiger Joe, didn't he?

To answer your questions-

Zaborger only had the live action series.
Lion Maru indeed had a character named Tiger Joe. Theres also a sequel series titled Fuun Lion Maru.

I have all these from their official Japanese dvd boxsets- Ninja Arashi, Lion Maru, Fuun Lion Maru.

Id be really interested in seeing Kurama Tengu starring Meguro Yuki

Sure, we could arrange for a trade. In exchange, what are the titles of the Samurai TV shows that you have?

Since the samurai tv-programs you mentioned are from the 80s and 90s, I don't think it includes the one I looking for, because Oedo was broadcast in the 1970s.
What's odd is that the tokusatsu, LionMaru was released on VHS that I bought many years ago and also dubbed in English! Although it's just one episode. I wonder, do you know why it was the Only tokusatsu to be chosen to be dubbed?

Many tokusatsu has been dubbed into English over the years beginning in the 60s. Complete series, films, single episodes, etc...

The entire Spectreman and Magma Taishii (Space Giants) series were dubbed into English and aired for decades on US cable. They were incredibly popular too.

I know what Lion Maru vhs you are speaking of. That company released many toku and anime single episodes to VHS to make a quick buck by marketing them as special features for children.
