On One day at a time it happened three times! A surprise birthday party for Barbara at her job in the sporting good store, ended up them being held up by burglars and locked them in the store room! :(

Grandma Romano's Birthday gathering wasn't so happy when Max ,her Grandson in law received a "Dear Max" letter from Julie her Grand daughter saying she was leaving him! :(

Ann's 36th Birthday party she had a melt down feeling that 36 was getting old! :rolleyes That was an Ann, get a grip moment! :p

On All in the family, Edith had an attempted rape on her Birthday! :(

On that same series, which I've seen once or twice, worries about her 40th birthday caused Ann to ruin Mark and Barbara's engagement announcement, get drunk, and wander into the Indy winter. It wasn't a birthday celebration directly going bad, but certainly birthday related.

On "The Lucy Show" in the episode "Kiddie Parties Inc." Lucy and Viv formed their own company to cater birthday parties for children. The first and only party they catered turned out to be not only a disaster but a whole series od disasters!!

Well Married...With Children had a bad birthday episode..lol Peggy discovers that no one knows Seven's birthday, she picks one at random, Al's. He is understandably not pleased when he has lost his birthday to the new kid. Peggy decides to have a small party for Seven's 6th birthday at a local park. But the party fizzles when a snobbish rich parent arrives and declares the park private for his own son's party.

On Full House, Michelle was going to have a circus themed party for her 3rd birthday. Jesse, Michelle & Stephanie take Danny's car to a garage to fix it. They go to the bathroom and come out to find that the mechanic has locked the doors and left. Jesse and Stephanie throw Michelle a makeshift circus party at the garage. (Season 3)

On the Brady Bunch. Jan & Peter's friend Lucy Winters invited them to her Birthday party! Jan, wearing her new dark wig, to introduce the "New Jan Brady" got laughed at by Lucy and the other party guests. They thought Jan was playing a joke wearing the silly wig, because "Her real hair is so pretty ,we all envy it" Said Lucy later on after she found out it wasn't a joke.

Could be considered a Birthday celebration gone bad, at least for a little while. The party kind of got interrupted when Jan went running home crying, and they had to go get Jan and convince her to come back to the party!

Billy Mumy starred in 2 Twilight Zone episodes where a birthday party went sour. I'm using spoiler tags for those who may not have seen these.

"Long Distance Call," His character, Billy Baylres is celebrating his 6th birthday and his grandma gives him a toy telephone.

After she died he was able to talk with her and she wanted him to join her so she tried to get him to kill himself by running into traffic and jumping in a pond. His dad got on the toy phone and begged his mother not to take him.

"It's a Good Life" - Billy portrays Anthony Fremont, a kid with strange powers in Peaksville, Ohio. Anthony also hates singing and when the birthday boy, Dan Hollis, receives a Perry Como record from his wife he becomes outraged that he can't play it. He starts drinking more & more and soon becomes uncontrollable.

Anthony soon gets fed up and when Mr. Hollis begs someone to bash his head in that's when Anthony turns him into a jack-in-the-box and sends him to the cornfield.

Yes!!!! The ep. with the dancing girls!!! The goings on at this party were far from appropriate for a children's Birthday party! ;) :D

This was a great rolling on the floor, belly laughing ep. !! :D

Yeah, I haven't seen the episode either. Btw, on Good Times, didn't James die on his way to his birthday party?

I think maybe your thinking of the Evans were having a party because James found a job in Mississippi and they were going to move there. Then Florida got the infamous telegram.

Leave It To Beaver "Wally's Present" Beaver was upset because Wally was not going to have a birthday party, but later changed his mind and invited Beaver to go to the movies with him and Eddie, but Beaver didn't find out yet, because he went to the store with Larry to get Wally a camera. Larry saw a bow and arrow set and talked Beaver into getting that for himself instead, so Beaver bought that and got Wally a cheap ball and paddle toy. When trying out the bow and arrow set, Larry accidently broke it. Later after Wally opened his presents, and Beaver felt bad about it, Beaver told Ward what he bought so Ward told him to take the set back and get the camera, but Beaver didn't get a chance to explain. After Beaver walked around the block a few times with the set, he finally broke down and told Ward he couldn't take the set back because it was busted. Ward told Beaver all he had to do was apologise to Wally.
