"Supergirl" Has Found its Superman

"Supergirl" has cast Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel. The "Teen Wolf" alum will play Superman in the show's second season, Variety reports.

"Greg Berlanti and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. "We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character."



Hoechlin will reportedly make his debut as Kara's (Melissa Benoist) cousin Clark Kent in the opening scene of "Supergirl's" premiere, which will make the move from CBS to The CW this fall. Superman is currently only slated for the first two episodes of the season, but there's always the chance for Hoechlin to recur.

That would open up the possibility of Hoechlin running across former Superman Brandon Routh, who played the iconic hero in the 2006 film Superman Returns , in a crossover with sister show "Legends of Tomorrow".

The latter is even set to receive a second ongoing incarnation - complementing Henry Cavill’s big-screen Superman in the DC Extended Universe - with Teen Wolf actor Tyler Hoechlin joining the cast of Supergirl as it moves over to The CW for season 2 this fall. Before the casting was made official, some speculation centered on whether the network might look to its last television Kal-El, Smallville star Tom Welling.

Tyler Hoechlin will make his debut as Superman in "Supergirl‘s" Season 2 premiere on Monday, October 10 at 8/7c on The CW.

Tyler Hoechlin is Coming Back to "Supergirl" as Superman

Talk about full circle: Kara's (Melissa Benoist) super famous cousin Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) is coming back to "Supergirl" for the Season 2 finale, E! reports.

Following his first appearance in the Season 2 premiere -- when he dropped in to National City to help tinker with a faulty LexCorp spacecraft -- the Man of Steel eventually beat it back to Metropolis, since, you know, the show is called Supergirl after all.

Oh good, the show has been getting dull lately maybe now with Superman they can focus on the action instead of the lovey dovey romance with Supergirl and Mon-El.
