For some reason the Are You Being Served remake will not feature the character Mr. Lucas. When I saw that he wasn't going to be there, I started thinking that a good number of Are You Being Served fans don't like Mr. Lucas, with some going so far as to say they prefer Mr. Spooner over him.

I never have understood the Lucas hate. Sure he teases his fellow coworkers, but let's not forget the others aren't saints either. There's also the fact that Mr. Lucas does care for his fellow coworkers and customers. To give some examples He was pretty annoyed Miss Brahms considered Japanese and Chinese the same thing in The Hand of Fate, he didn't make any remarks to Mrs. Slocombe about her dress being too big for the lift in Top Hat and Tails and he was furious when Mrs. Slocombe was downright nasty to Miss Brahms in Mrs. Slocombe Senior Person. This is in contrast to Mr. Spooner, whose kinder moments were few and far between

Maybe Mr. Lucas is being omitted from the remake because he would not be considered "politically correct" today. I always thought his remarks to the ladies were harmless and funny but some people took them too seriously.

I would think Mrs.Slocombe would be the one that was not ''politically correct''.
Mr.Lucas, most of the time, looked like he was shaking.
You might not notice this unless you look carefully.

If they would start out with Mr.Lucas, then fire him for being a poor salesman,at some point, then it could be like the original, with his position being a high turn around or have his junior position be a part time position where there are four part timers working that position at different times.
That would give all the fans a chance to see all the Junior characters.

I want to see the original USA pilot of this show they made decades ago.
Who ever is sitting on Beane's of Boston is sitting on gold.
It had Tom Poston

and Charlotte Rae as Mrs.Slocombe , a perfect fit.

and Alan Sues as Mr.Humphries , another perfect fit.
