View Full Version : They should have kept Marcy and dumped Pete and Denise

I loved the first 2 seasons because of the relationship between Marcy and Benson. They seemed to work so well with each other. I detested all of the new additions they added to the show. I detested the addition of Denise, Pete and Clayton because they were all super annoying and added very little to the show.

Denise had an annoying voice and was very whinny. She just seemed like a drama queen. I also could not stand her later husband Pete who was just a supreme doofus and should not have held a job in a governor's mansion. How he even held a job down puzzled me!

The worst offender of the new additions was Clayton who was added after season 1. He was simply an annoying, pompous jackass who thought he was better than everyone else. No one really liked him but he stayed around to the very end. Clayton should have been fired several times because he had no respect for anyone especially his boss.

I loved the first year of Benson but can only tolerate the other seasons. Now I see why they won't release a DVD set of the show on DVD and why it does poorly in syndication.

I love this show but every season seemed to get worse because of these worthless additions to the show.

I agree that the "Marcy Era" was the best of the runs. Clayton was a replacement for Taylor, and his character undergoes some changes throughout the show (whether for the better, that's debatable).

"Marcy's Wedding" was on Antenna TV last night, and it was a good example of the Benson-Marcy relationship- touching stuff.

I am glad, though, that Caroline came back for the beginning of the third season and Marcy had a nice, proper send-off, and didn't just disappear with no explanation or just a passing mention of what happened to her.

I don't like Clayton either. And I miss Marcy. They shouldn't have married her off liked that. Reeked of writer desperation to write her off carelessly like that. That being said, I still really like and enjoy the show!

Marcy got married in the middle of season 2, but didn't leave until early in season 3, so it wasn't like it was, married and gone right away. Plus, Caroline McWilliams, supposedly opted to leave, as she was marrying Michael Keaton and was moving to New York.
