"Bones" Final Season Pushed to 2017

"Bones" fans will have to wait longer for the show’s final season. Just days after announcing its fall schedule to advertisers, Fox has decided to revise its lineup.

Instead of the 12th and final season of "Bones" airing on Thursdays this fall, the network’s new baseball drama "Pitch" – originally planned for midseason – is stepping up to the plate.

"Bones" will now return in early 2017 (likely January, as that’s when Fox’s winter dramas typically launch).

Call it “The Beginning in the End.” Fox has set a premiere date — Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at 9/8c — for the 12th and final season of "Bones".

The farewell run promises to “celebrate the inventive series and bring the storylines of Brennan, Booth, and the Jeffersonian-FBI team to a close, allowing the show’s loyal fans to say goodbye to these indelible characters.”





Fox’s press release also teases “the return of fan-favorite guest stars and squinterns, as well as an old flame from one of the team’s past.”

Viewers can also count on “a wedding, an epic serial killer storyline, and a new undercover mission set at a lumberjack competition.”

Oh, and you’ll also see “Booth and Brennan’s marriage get put to the test.” Hmm.





“From the very first season, Bones was called ‘The Little Engine That Could.’ So we could not be prouder of ending up as Fox’s longest-running scripted drama,” series creator Hart Hanson said in a statement.

“And we got there because of an insanely loyal, loud, lovely, lively audience.”
