View Full Version : I'm stepping down as moderator.....
crystaldawn 05-10-2016, 05:23 PM I just wanted to let everyone know that I will no longer be moderating this board. I have moderated here for over 10 years and feel it is time to step down. I think this board is a fantastic resource for all of us UM fans and I do plan on staying around and posting from time to time so I'm not leaving, just no longer moderating. I also want to say I think Todd does a fantastic job having this board for us hardcore UM fans and it's great that it is still so active after all these years and hopefully it will continue to be for many years to come. Thank you all and I'll see you on the board...:)

Aww! I, for one, will miss you. We've had such fun with you over the last decade.

1990 UM fan 05-12-2016, 10:32 AM Well, as long as you're not having prostate cancer treatments and then die of a heart attack seven months later. Too soon?
So who is the moderator now? I volunteer.

Huh?!
Hambone2421 05-12-2016, 12:37 PM No idea what that means.
LooksLikeCRicci 05-12-2016, 12:48 PM I think 1990 UM Fan may be referring to jjmcr? At least I think that was the name. Really interesting poster who passed away a few months ago?
If that's the case, yep. I vote "too soon."
I would also be willing to moderate if the forum needed it.
Is it a question of more money? :)
Thanks Heather for 10 great years! I know it's often a thankless job. We appreciate all the hard work you have done to keep things running smoothly. You have always been very helpful to the community. There has been a lot of behind-the-scenes drama over the years. You always handled things fairly. You made this a better and safer place to post.
biscuitgirl 05-12-2016, 02:30 PM You have been a fantastic mod! I'm glad you will be sticking around!

It was a reference to what happened to Robert Stack after the original Unsolved Mysteries ended. Sorry if the joke is dry.

Oh crap. Totally lost on me. My bad.
NYSleuth 05-13-2016, 12:52 PM I'm late but sorry to see you step down, you were an incredible moderator.
Steve W. 05-14-2016, 01:00 PM Admittedly, I don't know what all the tasks are that entail being a moderator, but it's good to know that you'll still be around from time-to-time, sharing your wealth of knowledge related to UM and all other things that are unsolved or unresolved.
NYSleuth 05-15-2016, 08:04 AM crystaldawn will still be one of the "forum elders" of the board, a group of wise, knowledgeable and respected posters that also includes dynoguy88, boechsner and Kane.
I don't think there are too many forums out there that have a multitude of long-time (13+ years each), highly respected and knowledgeable posters like this one has. We are very fortunate in that regard.
And we also have a large volume of senior members, forum regulars and newer posters that bring a lot to the board. Heck, there are some posters with only one or a few posts that have contributed a lot. Of course, we get the occasional bad seed or person that will go on to be banned, but overall this is a wonderful community and unlike any other I've encountered on the net. I've learned, gained and laughed a whole lot from it, not to mention making a ton of friendships from it. It is truly remarkable and thanks to TJ also for everything.
I echo these sentiments. This forum is full of smart, awesome and hilarious people. :)
NYSleuth 05-15-2016, 02:22 PM Agreed in full. I'm glad you joined the forum after all that time lurking, NYSleuth. It's great to have you here.
And I can't forget all those great posters from days gone by. Sometimes it's just nice to pull up an old thread from 2006 and see crushedvelvet or Skunk Ape or greatgarret2 or some of the many greats from the olden days.
Aww, thx wiseguy182. I've got too look up those members. :)
crystaldawn 05-16-2016, 05:04 PM Thanks so much to everyone for all the kind words! You guys are fantastic!! :)
Todd you have always been great to work with. It's been an honor being on the payroll. ;)
nohwheregirl 05-18-2016, 09:17 AM Thanks for your many years of service to this board, CD!!! You've been a fair and just moderator. This break is much deserved!

I'm a little late in this, but thanks for all you've done Crystaldawn! You helped me get set up on this board more than five years ago and I've enjoyed it ever since. Thanks again!
justins5256 06-02-2016, 07:23 PM I'm sorry to hear this. However, I'm glad you'll still be around. :)
SitcomsAreTheWay 06-06-2016, 12:44 AM I have yet to encounter anyone whom has had the longevity you've had as a moderator. I must add that you were the first (and only) UM fan I've ever received UM episodes from, and I haven't forgotten how gracious you were to me during the correspondence. For a second there I thought you were bidding a permanent farewell. I'm so glad that isn't the case.
