Why is Saved By The Bell listed as an E/I series? Other than the fact that it takes place in a high school, what is there about it that is considered to be educational? What do you actually learn from it? I have learned that the entire cast is a bunch of idiots and that Screech can't take a punch from Horshack so now he carries a knife instead in case he needs to stab someone.

Looks lousy to me. I haven't watched this channel in a while because of lack of variety. Most of what I like on here I already own on DVD anyway so I have no need to watch it here.

It's still gonna be on Sundays.

Why is Saved By The Bell listed as an E/I series?

It's been E/I for years, going back to when it was still on NBC. The why is questionable.

I learned how oil spills are bad for the environment. I learned not to drink and drive. I learned not to get hooked on uppers. I learned that girls can do things just as good as boys. I learned not use facial cream made by one of my classmates. I learned what it was like to work at the Malibu Sands Beach Club. I mean the life lessons this show taught me helped get me through my teen years. Lol

I know! I wish they would add some new stuff! ;) I'd like to see on weekdays a Mary Tyler Moore/ Rhoda hour . Wouldn't that be cool!;) And not all the Westerns on Saturday, maybe throw in some Crime drama like Mod Squad, Streets of San Francisco . But that won't happen. They won't cut down on those Westerns till hell freezes over!!

Agreed. I'd like to have Mama move in at 10 instead of 6. I don't like the idea of Gilligan's Island replacing Laverne & Shirley but I own the complete series on DVD and my family and I always have movie nights during the summer! But I will still be watching Johnny Carson on Antenna & keeping up with ODAAT!

Oh, but I do think it's a really cool idea to have Dawn Wells be the "ambassador" for MeTV! Maybe she'll be stopping by Svengoolie again this summer? Bonniegirl, did you see Curucu, Beast of the Amazon when he showed it last summer? It was pretty bad, and my sister and I made huge fun of it, but the fact that she was on there and of course Sven makes it all the better! And, of course, there's a guy you might think is hot! I'll notify you when it airs if you want me to!

In the late 1950s, Westerns were huge on TV. They dominated the ratings for a few years until the family comedies and fantasy series bumped them off the schedule, except for mainstays like Gunsmoke and Bonanza.

A few years ago, Canada featured a popular specialty channel called Lonestar which showed many of the classics that you see on Me-TV and a few Canadian series like Lonesome Dove. For some reason, even though the ratings were as good as other specialty channels that existed then, it didn't last very long. It was eventually re-branded and is now called MovieTime.

I may be in the minority, but overall I like this channel, nominal schedule changes or not.

When my cable carrier dropped Antenna TV last year, I was stuck with Cozi, which is an okay channel, but light on sitcoms (though it did make me a Bionic Woman fan).

Then, a few months later, Me was added, so I was in heaven! Carol Burnett and Friends, at least, aren't on DVD, and are gems. Yeah, they do overkill on the westerns. In some ways they're like what TV Land would be now if TV Land hadn't gone to...heck.

Recently Cozi was dropped and Antenna TV is back, and I find myself watching Me and Antenna equally. I wish I had all three.

They didn't air Season 6 for a few cycles they would go back to season 1 after Season 5 that went on for awhile. I don't think it was until after the DVD's came out that they started airing Season 6.

Yeah but TV Land plays the color episodes of Gunsmoke & the 260 Syndicated Package to Bonanza while METV plays the black and white Gunsmoke episodes and the lost Bonanza episodes so in a way that's different now.

I'm also glad they're keeping the "Sunday funnies" on Sunday nights.

a little off-topic but I wish they'd rerun the lost Honeymooners episodes and stop showing just the "classic 39" over and over and over. And maybe show the color ones from the 60s and the reunion specials from the 70s.

Oh, I know. What they should've done was replace one Andy with Gilligan instead.

Frank Gannucci
05-08-2016, 11:17 PM
As far as the Honeymooners, I couldn't agree more. I think they eventually will show the lost ones due to the fact that eventually people are going to get tired of seeing the Classic 39 and want something new. 30 years ago, when the Lost episodes were introduced, even Jackie once said that he was getting tired of seeing the Classic 39.

As far as the Color episodes go, they probably won't ever air them due to the musical clearance issues. I even asked MeTv via Facebook if they could air the Jackie Gleason Show from the 60s and include the short Color Honeymooners sketches that unlike the rest of the Color episodes for the most part have not seen the light of day in almost 50 years. They nicely replied by saying acquiring those episodes would be expensive for them.

I can see them airing the 70 reunion specials

You and me both! I like both shows, but they get tiring. I can only take both in small doses. Laverne & Shirley I never seem to get tired of! Fortunately, I own the complete series on DVD and I plan on buying and watching a lot of movies this summer around 9:30 anyway, so it's not a dealbreaker to me.

I'd rather Gilligan be at 8 or 8:30 instead of 9:30. Why break up a perfect Happy Days/L&S combo? Laverne & Shirley is 1000x better than Gilligan!

05-11-2016, 10:01 PM
^The good thing about this schedule is now I have more opportunity to catch up on my TV on DVD collection. I hardly watch TV in the summer (try not to), so it'll be mostly my DVD collection, movies, "One Day at a Time" and "Johnny Carson" on Antenna, "Svengoolie" on MeTV, etc.
