The voice of Peter Thomas has gone quiet.

Thomas, 91, a voice-over icon and World War II veteran, died Saturday, nearly two years after he lost his wife and high school sweetheart, Stella Barrineau Thomas.

His vocal chords made him a part of Americana, but locally Peter Thomas became most famous for his humanitarian heart.

During a career that spanned seven decades, Peter Thomas lent his smooth and brassy baritone to everything from commercials to documentaries. He was a radio announcer, a newspaper reporter, television anchor for CBS New York and finally, a voice-over actor.

In high school, Peter Thomas started reading poetry and news on the local radio station. That's when he met Stella. After spotting her at a school dance, he began to woo Stella by dedicating a song and poem to her on his show. They began dating.

Peter Thomas joined the Army in 1943, shipped out to Europe that December. While overseas, he fought through France, Belgium and crossed the Rhine into Germany. Peter Thomas won his Purple Heart for his participation in the Battle of the Bulge.

Stella and Peter Thomas stayed together. The couple moved to Naples in 1966, when they purchased a house on a whim during a vacation. They raised three children together, two of whom are also voice-over actors

2016 has been a bad year for famous and likable celebrities. I love Forensic Files and always hoped there'd be new episodes, with or without Mr. Thomas as the narrator, although it would not be the same without him. RIP.

I just learned this sad news tonight when I Googled "Forensic Files" for another reason. I'm listening to Mr. Thomas on a FF episode right now, as I do most every evening. He did a remarkable job narrating that show and from all I have read, was a wonderful family man and a war hero. A life very well lived. RIP!

It is strange that I just found out about this, since I was just researching, or better yet re researching Paul Hardcastle song 19 around the time of Peters death. Peter made four percent royalty on the song 19,since his voice was one of the first voices to be sampled in a song and the person to be paid a royalty.
On my bucket list, and it should be on yours to,is to see the PBS special Peter voice over, about the Vietnam war, called Vietnam Requiem.

R.I.P Peter (and Stella).

One of my favorite narrators next to Robert Stack.

Paul Dowling, the show's executive producer, admitted to Naples Daily News that he has been asked to bring back Forensic Files, but said he doesn't want to "water it down." Therefore, he clearly rules out a revival. Although his decision may not be popular, I think it's the right one. The show lasted from 1996 to 2011, an impressive 15 years. And with approximately 400 episodes produced, I believe Mr. Dowling is wise to let the show rest on its laurels.

Rest in peace, Peter Thomas.

Peter Thomas had a great voice. I was just watching FF earlier tonight. He actually helps me fall asleep sometimes, since I used to fall asleep to that show nearly 20 years ago, when I found it again recently I realized it helped me fall asleep still.

I had no idea that was him on 19. I love that song, but I'd pretty much forgotten about it. I still remember the words though.

RIP

Believe it or not, it has been one year since the death of Forensic Files narrator Peter Thomas. He died on April 30, 2016 at the age of 91. Needless to say, his death last year marked the end of an era. Nevertheless, he is immortalized through his voiceover work, especially Forensic Files, which he narrated from its debut in 1996 until it ceased production in 2011. He lived a good long life, but he is still sorely missed.
