As I have stated in other threads, Roseanne herself announced in April 1995 she was in fact ending the show in May 1996. In July she stated she had already written the finale. She also stated there was not enough money in the world that ABC could throw at her to keep it on the air.

This is also partly why Lecy returned and why John Goodman was barely in season 9.

What does everyone think the finale was going to be, had they ended it in Season 8? I would be interested to get my hands on that script.
