I don't get to post on this board as often as I'd like, but I really enjoy the humor and genuine interest in unsolved mysteries (the show in particular s well as "unsolved mysteries" in general).

I can't even say how many times I've cracked up scrolling through this board -- what are some of your favorite threads on here?

I'm a fan of the "if you could dedicate a song to someone on UM" thread, as well as the "biggest idiot profiled on UM" LOL.

Also, best title: "Jeffrey McDonald: Convict or Wrongly Convicted?" bwaha

LOL I have to look up those threads, they sound hilarious.

My fave threads are any concerning Bob Bean & The Wheelers; also the Best Name Featured on UM cracks me up big time! lol

I also love when fonts go back and forth and get all worked up over their conflicting theories on UM cases. I am sitting back lmao reading the not so subtle, snarky banter. lol

UM Memes is a great one and cracks me up. As far as my favorite thread for actually discussing a case, I'll say the Chaim Weiss and Eric Tamiyasu threads. I'd love to see those two murders solved one day so I always enjoy discussing them.

'Most memorable UM lines' is probably my all-time favorite.

Favorite post of all time is a toss-up between the Don Dixon Taco Bell lunches yarn or Smokescreen's description of the hip-hop music in the Tracy Wofford Bunn segment.

So I was going to say most memorable lines hands down as well. It is massive and I read through them all one or two nights and laughed my butt off. Then realized that just about any line I could think to post had already been posted. I also like it when posters put lines that I don't know what they are so I can see if it is from a segment I've never seen. This is a great forum. There are so many awesome threads. Some of the more famous ones bring in one poster wonders or just case sleuths that give some good info. It's always nice too when friends and family come on here. then when cases get solved the thread heats back up. Wendy camp is probably the one that stands out.

For whatever reason the craziest thread I've ever posted in is titled nerdy possessive boyfriend. When That thread gets Bumped it makes me laugh and brace for a heated debate all in one. It's strange because that's not a segment that I would consider to be very memorable compared to others but the people that posted on it have caused a lot of debate and drama.

Yep the got milk makes me laugh so hard. And it's probably one of the worst segments ever and totally not funny. Just goes to show how funny memes can be. I like that people can use humor with such a sensetive show without being so serious all the time. We are all passionate about justice for victims. It is nice to see people laugh and get along well. And seeing these
Cases still getting solved shows the power of the show and the fans that can still help.

The thing with that thread is I remember posting in it because of the funny title and my curiosity of how he remained at large. Then later it got bumped
Again and I went back and read from earlier pages where all the family and friends stuff was posted.

That was the first thread that came to my mind. That poster was absolutely ridiculous with his/her logic because Denise was to blame for Randall kidnapping her, Denise was to blame for Randall assaulting her, Denise was to blame for Randall running her off the road, and so and so and so on.

The level of denial and level of obsession that this person was posting turned in to a complete side show of comedy. So much so that we couldn't help but start to have a little fun with her. I think I asked Meg, "Hey, did you hear Denise sells poison milk to school children and punches puppies for sport?"

That was also the only time I have ever called anyone out for being a fake. She had obviously created a fake account to give the illusion that someone else was agreeing with all of her points about how awful Denise is (because that new person had registered to the forum that very day.) When I asked how much longer are we going to ignore this elephant in the room, she left, erasing all of her posts in the process.

I don't think crystaldawn appreciated it but I was laughing pretty hard during the last several pages of that thread. I'm sorry, but it was really funny. I hope no newbies got the wrong impression about us from that thread. We really are a nice group of people and can disagree yet still be pleasant with each other. But in that instance, we had been pushed waaaay past our breaking point and we had to release some snark.

The UM locations picture thread is pretty much the only one I'll check every time it has been bumped. Many thanks to the contributors.

Years ago my favorite was the massive DB Cooper thread, the one that reached at least 40 or 50 pages and had Duane Weber's widow contributing, along with plenty of debate from a handful of posters who were briefly regulars here. That thread enabled me to post tons of info from the "Real McCoy" book, which was important because I saw that the information was otherwise not available on the internet. I called one of the co-authors of the book and got some additional information including clarification on the lawsuit by McCoy's widow regarding the book, since that suit had been used by some to denounce McCoy as suspect. I also called the Utah Air National Guard, which laughed at Ralph Himmelsbach's assertion than McCoy was in Los Angeles on drills during the time frame in question. I posted that info in the thread.

A newcomer entered with wild claims and started taunting Mrs. Weber, who didn't back down and started threatening action. I received related private messages from her, describing how fed up she was. She was determined to find out who he was and do something about it. There were other problems. I understood why the thread was locked. Anyway, that thread enabled me to feel like I was making a minor contribution to the case file, at least as available to internet researchers without requiring them to track down an obscure book. The irony is that nearly a decade later the McCoy details have been all but washed away and the book is even less available, which opens the door for the comical latest suspect. The over/under is 1.5 new ones each calendar year.

I like most of the um threads. The threads I dislike are the ones where people knock the um boards. Many seem to claim to be family members from some of the cases which for some it prob isn't true.

I've spoken with some of the family members associated with some um cases and each one was very appreciative of the boards and loved that the cases were still talked about. Even talking about a case helps to keep it alive and allows the family to have hope for getting it solved.

UM Locations is fantastic, it would be nice if Google street view went back to the 1980's as well but you can't have everything.

Biggest idiot profiled on UM is great as well. I'd like to see a poll on that to determine the ultimate idiot. I reckon Judy Olive would be pretty close.

I always cringe when I see a new poster posting a new thread about a case which already has over 100 posts in it :)

It would be nice if a time machine went back to the 1980's. I would gladly hop in, set the dial and get transported to my favorite decade. Then I would destroy the time machine to prevent from ever going back.

How about when a new poster constantly bumps up ancient threads asking if there are any updates on cases, when there is a search function, UM wiki and a whole giant sticky thread on updates to cases available? :)

I may have done that once before myself but that was long before I was a vet and either before the wikia existed or before I knew about it. That wikia is one of the best tools once I found it. Every time I'd watch a segment I was in there.

I hope the new posters that come here have thick skin if they decide to stick around. We def want you here and we like to joke and carry on some good debates in good fun and sometimes with a lot of sarcasm. Just understand there is probably not a thread out there that hasn't been started and when there are updates they go viral in here. You have to be creative now to start one that will get some replies.

I remember talking about a lot of weirdness with that scene. The nurse's delivery was such that it was if she was saying "Oh, that wacky L'enfant is up to his old shenanigans", and then Bashir saunters off down the aisle and you just get the feeling this poor man will be plagued by those calls his entire life. And was it really necessary to tell Bashir (who is in a mental hospital by this point) that L'enfant called for the 80 jillionth time? Did he have anything new to say?

So much wrong with that scene.

Yeah We know they were trying to show that L'enfant was still pranking him there, but the way they did the reenactment was sloppy. No medical professional would have done that to him at least I hope they wouldn't.

The RebZ saga in the "nerdy possessive boyfriend" thread is probably the single most embarrassing thing I've ever read in a forum and it had absolutely nothing to do with me personally.

I mean, like five different people called him out within the span of about ten minutes.

My posts have dwindled to a trickle over the last couple of years as I've in many cases exhausted everything I have to say about a case (more than once, I have started to comment on a case... and as I write I say to myself, "This is familiar, have I said this before?"... only to do a search to discover that, yes, in fact, I have), and my wife and I bought a house and now we have a little one. Less free time for me.

But I do check in, and for awhile I noticed that thread about the "nerdy possessive boyfriend" was always on the first page, but I never clicked on it because the case never particularly interested me (as most fugitive ones don't - although, now that I think about it, it is kind of nuts he's been able to evade capture for this long).

Now I could kick myself. Look at everything I missed by ignoring the thread: an all-time flameout.
