From TVShowsonDVD.com:
Hit the streets with Squad 51 in Emergency!, the pioneering series that was the first to portray the real-life drama of those who devote their lives to saving others. With sirens blaring, dedicated paramedics Roy DeSoto (Kevin Tighe) and John Gage (Randolph Mantooth) respond to the most desperate calls in the City of Angels.

A heroic medical team, including Nurse Dixie McCall (Julie London) and doctors Kelly Brackett (Robert Fuller) and Joe Early (Bobby Troup) await them at Rampart Hospital, where life-and-death decisions are all part of a day's work. From legendary producer Jack Webb (Dragnet) come all six seasons of this gripping and suspenseful series that captivated viewers and launched a genre of television.

After releasing DVDs for every season, plus the post-series telefilms, between 2005 and 2011, Universal Studios Home Entertainment has today announced that Emergency! - The Complete Series will come to DVD on July 12th. This $149.98 SRP package will include all six seasons, AND The Final Rescues telefilm collection. All on-disc content appears to be identical to the previous releases, just slide into a new outer slipcase:

I'm not a huge fan of this show, but I do find myself enjoying it when I do watch it. I'll probably break down and buy it when it's fairly cheap. Thoughts?

^I will definitely wait until the price goes down, and I'm sure it will since it's a Universal title. My Mom loves "Emergency!" but I much prefer other shows and I need to buy other DVDs before I get to that one. Maybe I'll buy it as a gift for her someday, but I'd love to have it for my own collection.

Even as a kid, the only reason I watched Emergency was to watch Julie London! Same goes for Police Woman!

Spending nearly 150 bucks on a complete series of a show that you are a not an avid admirer of seems gratuitous.

I've made that mistake many a time with shows that didn't pan out for me, like Starsky and Hutch for one. I didn't spend $150 on any of the "mistake" releases, but I did spend good money, only to have the series be what I regretted.

If the price comes down I'll definitely get this, one of my favorite TV shows.

I have the individual season releases, so I will not buy this unless the episodes have been remastered for this new release. From the season releases, season 4 has the most problems with poor audio quality on a few episodes being the main issue for me. So I'll wait and see what the reviews are for the set after it comes out. If episodes are remastered I'll probably order it. If episodes aren't remastered, if this new release just ends up being an exact re-package of the previous releases, then no reason for me to buy.

^No more double-sided discs on this one. If I had the individual releases, that's kinda what would make me wanna upgrade!

^ The double-sided discs on seasons 1 and 2 don't really bother me, I haven't had a problem with them. As I mentioned, the season 4 DVD has a few episodes with poor audio. I certainly hope the episodes will be remastered for this release, I'll just wait and see what the reviews say.
