On various occasions, I have written about different ways that "Gimme a Break!" compares to other shows. One comparison that I have written quite a bit about is the "Gimme a Break!" episode, "Samantha's Protest" in relation to the "Honeymooners" episode "The Hot Dog Stand". The main thing that I would say that makes these episodes similar is characters having ambition that had no place to go. Well, in more recent times, I have compared "Gimme a Break!" to another episode called "Two Men on a Horse". Throughout the run of "Gimme a Break!", there were several instances in which something got established in one episode and then there were future episodes about this reality. These included episodes about things such as the chief having died, the grandfather coming to live with them and Julie getting married. There were a lot of future episodes that referred back to these things having happened. Very similar to what happened on the "Honeymooners". In "Two Men on a Horse", Ralph get elected treasurer of the Raccoon Lodge and then promptly lost two-hundred dollars of the lodge's money! After this, there were several episodes about his role as treasurer. On this very night, I watched an episode called "On Stage". In this episode, he was in a play that was put on to raise money for the lodge. I would say that this type of follow-up episode was very similar to the episodes of "Gimme a Break!" that took place after the events that I have already referred to in this thread.
