Billing on a show is a contractual negotiation point as I understand it.

Perhaps the other actors had better agents and managers negotiating their salary and status ramping up for Saved By The Bell.

Lark was a distant third in terms of popularity, compared to Tiffany-Amber Theisson and Elizabeth Berkeley. Just like Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Mario Lopez were the stars of the show, with Dustin Diamond being somewhat of a third wheel.

I didn't know that.

While the DVDs by Lionsgate mostly have the syndicated theme version (from season 3 being used for the early seasons as well), there are a few episodes that have the original opening. Same song, sung a tad differently, and Lark Voorhies is second billed (Dustin Diamond is third). I don't know why they made the changes and billed her last later on, but when the show originally aired during the first season, Lark had a much higher credit.

Right now, we already know that Lark is becoming an attention whore, due to the incident you all mentioned, even if she's not as worse as Dustin along the way. Although, you should know that Lark was the second former original SBTB castmember considered to be no longer with her original SBTB castmates anymore, TBH.

I never knew this. I think her being an African American girl was a good move. I can't picture the character being any other way. Screech had no problem with her being the way that she was. :D :D :D

I believe that how an actor or actress is billed is negotiated by the actor's manager and/or agent with the producers when a contract is drawn up.

But I always did think it odd that a child actor got billed over an adult in the case of "Ronny" Howard over Don Knotts.

If you listen to the Andy Griffith credits, they say “Starring Andy Griffith, with Ronny Howard, Also Starring Don Knotts.”

“Also Starring” was considered better billing than “With” at the time. Back then, Jack Lord would not permit any of his co-stars on “Hawaii Five-0” to have “starring” in their billing, only “With”. Carol Burnett’s co-stars on her variety show were introduced with “With”. But when Dick Van Dyke, a bigger name, joined the permanent cast, he got “Co-Starring”.
