Michael J. Fox has been fighting Parkinson’s disease since he was first diagnosed in the 1990s, but he’s tragically losing this fight. At 54-years-old, Fox’s speech is slurred and his left foot is so unresponsive that he’s often forced to drag it behind him. He is expected to become wheelchair dependent before the age of 60.

The often reclusive star took a night out with his wife Tracy Pollan in February of this year and required several helpers to enter and exit his vehicle.

According to Radar Online (http://radaronline.com/celebrity-news/michael-j-fox-battles-parkinson-disease-health-declines/), a close friend said of the night out, “It was heartbreaking. Michael’s bravery knows no bounds. But as the disease takes its toll on his body, even he is beginning to see that his battle is a losing one.”

They continued to say, “Michael sees every day as a gift, as well as an opportunity to help other sufferers. His Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research has done so much and has raised millions of dollars, but a cure remains well out of reach. Michael may be down, but he’s not out. It was a struggle for him during his rare outing, but as he headed away from the restaurant he even managed to flash a peace sign to his fans from the back of the limo.”

It's sad that Michael J. Fox is "losing his battle with Parkinson's. I hope he has many years left and that his health doesn't continue to decline.

That's my opinion.

"Losing the Fight Against Parkinsons"? Anytime I hear of a particular person "losing the fight" against a particular disease, then that would be an implication that that person is dying/passing away from that particular disease. :(

It was already a shock when Michael J. Fox made his announcement that he would be diagnosed with something as horrible as Parkinson's Disease, and after years of keeping that disease under control, only now are the worst of the symptoms starting to set in (such as what the article on The Shrug pointed out). I fear that the Parkinson's Disease Michael J. Fox suffers from is eventually going to hurt his acting career. :(

I thought that's what it meant too as I read this, but as I read it I was even more saddened. Keeping good thoughts about his health!

The actor tweeted out the apology, calling the story “disturbing and total B.S.”

The tabloid media should leave him alone. It's his life and business.

NEVER, EVER, EVER listen to the tabloid media. Anyone who does is a complete and utter fool.

The tabloid media may not be wrong. Parkinson's disease is a disease that causes progressive muscle weakness , speech issues, shaking, etc... The average progression of the disease up until death is about 15-20 years. Most people don't survive past that time, but there have been exceptions to this. I'm not trying to instill concern in anyone but it's the truth

My mom has been diagnosed with Parkinson's, though she's much older than Fox (82). Her main trouble is from tremors (or "shaking" as referred to in this thread). It can be very debilitating at times, interfering with everyday things like sleeping and eating.

Michael J. Fox has been living with Parkinson's Disease since 1991. It's sad to see his health has declined. He's still acting, kudos to him. Good for MJF for calling out the tabloid for the article they wrote.
