Regulus 04-07-2016, 12:26 AM I have over 200 movies and about a dozen TV series on VHS, a few of which have not been released on DVD. I have a VHS player to play them on, and even if some of the ones that were released on VHS only were to be released on DVD and/or Blu-Ray I see no reason to replace them. If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT! Coffeecup 04-07-2016, 11:56 AM Back in the day mid 1980's I had a Vcr and taped alot of shows. Even bought a camcorder around early 1990's and taped family events, some were just filming out my window. It was so new an experience. Now 25 + years with new technology my VHS tapes sit. I did throw movies out for most I could see again. But I did keep family Camcorder movies. I really don't know if I can't see again. Could spent money to put to new tecnology, but I am the one who would be interested. My parents have passed on and they were in many of my camcorder movies. tvfan25 04-07-2016, 05:51 PM TVfan25, Raw, Nitro and Thunder. I like your style. Thanks! I love wrestling and still record it! I watch a little New Japan. I was excited to see Shinsuke Nakamura's match with Sami Zayn on NXT. danderson400 05-15-2016, 06:22 AM i did tape some Wide World Of Sports stuff back in the day though such as: World Gymnastics Championships from Rotterdam where Romanian Aurelia Dobre upsets teammate Daniela Silivas and Soviet Elena Shoushounova to win the all-around title(1987) many US Figure skating championships between 1986 and 1995 Trumbull, Conn. upsets Taiwan in the final of the Little League World Series(1989) Tom Jager shatters the world record for the 50-meter freestyle in a head-to-head battle with Matt Biondi at the U.S. Spring Championships(1990) Brandy Johnson becomes only the fourth American woman in history to win a medal at the World Gymnastics Championships when she collects the silver in the vault. The star of the show is once again Svetlana Boginskaya(1989). many horse races between 1986 and 1999 i did tape a lot of Wide World i'm just mentioning those events i do remember American Gladiators, between 1989 and 93(either taped off the original broadcast, or reruns). other things i had were the Columbia House tapes of St. Elsewhere- was really impressed to see the episodes uncut. I had a lot of made for TV movies on VHS(store bought). The Flood: Who Will Save Our Children is one example, A Promise to Keep was another. There was a movie i had starring Mel Harris from Thirtysomething that was set on a yacht during a hurricane. pkripper001 05-15-2016, 08:05 AM I would say I still have well over 200 video cassettes. I started out with Beta, and still have all my Beta tapes from the 80's. These have sponsors from the 80's,like TAB cola, and Try Chung King for your beautiful body, those 2 were in high rotation. I still have several Beta recorders, but the belts and/or rubber parts may need service by now from lack of use. When I got my first VHS VCR,I got it used from a shop that did VCR repairs, they sold it to me for $85. VHS VCR's were too expensive, even used,so I used Beta exclusively for at least four years. I also have large collection of movie boxes, without the movie. This is model Sanyo Beta VCR that started me out. Dude111 05-15-2016, 08:14 PM Back in the day is my current day as I still tape stuff.Good for you... VHS is awesome!! Yeah, me too. I dont think I can get used to taping stuff using anything else although I'm probably going to have to eventually. JJM 05-16-2016, 03:33 PM When I was a kid, i had a few seasons of Full House, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, Step by Step, & a few other random shows i liked back then. I taped them on their original air dates. I loved TGIF back then. When I got older I discovered classic tv shows which I taped off of TVLand, when it was good. I had the Dick van Dyke show, the Andy Griffith show, Happy Days, MASH, & All in the Family. But I had to get rid of my old VHS because I ran out of room and started to buy DVDs. Thinking they will all become available someday. I wish I had held onto Perfect Strangers & Step by Step. I don't think they will ever be on completely on DVD. Nordy 05-16-2016, 08:40 PM I don't think I have anything except The Godfather, Titanic, Planes Trains and Automobiles. I do have Chicago sports stuff like Super Bowl XX, Cubs 1984 and 1989 NLCS but that's about it. ABC1 05-17-2016, 09:22 PM I taped One Life to Live, The Love Boat, the Golden Girls, Benson...so many shows actually. But today I forced myself to throw quite a few of them away. I haven't watched them in years. Feel kind of depressed about throwing them away, but I did it anyway. They took up a lot of room...:( SitcomsOffline 05-17-2016, 09:27 PM i had a few movies like "A Christmas Without Snow", some tapes of Jimmy Swaggart in his prime and even disney movies so what was your collection back in the day? MrCleveland 05-28-2016, 10:35 AM I still tape shows with VHS. I have some tapes that are 10-20 years old and still work like new! Rarely, I have a tape get damaged by the VCR. I have 200 something tapes and I retape shows as well. And if my nieces will be at my parents this Memorial Day, I'll bring a tape that has some cartoon specials of yesteryear. Coffeecup 05-28-2016, 11:20 AM Danderson, I was into taping the Olympics too and would tape a few hours or so of the week long events. One early Olympics I have is the winter skating program showing a skater named Mark Cochran. He came in around 12th but the commentator mentioned Mark was having the time of his life. Mark knew he wasn't about to medal but was so happy to be there. I wonder where Mark is now. The year must have been 1984. A few years ago, I went through my VHS tapes and threw all out but family videos. I figure with the internet, I can google something and get the same thing. My VCR I don't use anymore. I should get the family videos onto something new. TheLogoMan94 06-09-2016, 03:59 PM I have about 150-200+ VHS tapes in my collection. They all date from 1985 - 2016. The oldest tape being, if I'm correct, a recording of "Diff'rent Strokes" on WKYH-TV, an NBC affiliate in Hazard, KY in 1985 (now WYMT-TV, a CBS affiliate; they changed names and network that same year). My most recent tape is actually full of content from yesterday and today. It's mostly wildfeeds/backhauls from NBC which I receive through my Ku-Band satellite dish. Other things I have in my collection are: •Over 80 Andy Griffith VHS tapes (from Premier Promotions and UAV Corporation; 1980's-1996) •Match Game •To Tell The Truth •What's My Line •I've Got a Secret (2 tapes; SLP/EP mode) •Perry Mason (2 tapes; LP mode) •I Love Lucy (2 tapes; LP & SLP/EP mode) •The Phil Silvers Show •Gunsmoke •The Millionaire •The Honeymooners •Make Room for Daddy •Cannon •ABC, CBS, & NBC (all date from 1985-2001) •MTV (Death of Kurt Cobain, 1994; originally 2 tapes, but 1 was taped over with a basketball game; about an hour or so still survives.) •Nickelodeon (1992 & 1999; 2 tapes, the 1999 tape is only 30 minutes, while the 1992 tape is over 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours.) •TBS (1986, 1988, 1992, & 1993; 5 tapes) The list goes on… Dude111 06-13-2016, 01:29 AM My you have alot of awesome stuff recorded from analog cable!!! Tubehead 06-13-2016, 08:05 PM i really didn't have an vsh collection i would tape movies on vsh then take the commercials out then i would watch them!! TheLogoMan94 06-14-2016, 02:38 AM What does that mean? Are they different type shows? Btw, you have an awesome list. Thank you! Yes, many different type shows. All of my tapes are either mine, my parents, grandparents, or other relatives. My grandparents still have over 150 tapes they haven't gave to me yet. I've also bought a lot of 24 tapes on eBay recently. I also bought my first Betamax VTR and tape. The collection just keeps growing. TheLogoMan94 06-14-2016, 02:43 AM My you have alot of awesome stuff recorded from analog cable!!! EXCELLENT :) Thank you!! I remember when I was 13 (2007), my dad threw out a few tapes (about 20-30 tapes); most of them, if I remember correctly, we're just movies and also included tapes of 'Arthur,' 'Clifford, The Big Red Dog', and 'Barney & Friends'. All of those were store-bought, prerecorded tapes. I remember finding out about what my dad did later that same year; I was so mad and a little upset. He said he done it because he didn't think nobody watched them and that they took up space. I cringe at the thought of anybody throwing out tapes, but that's just me.:( Now, I really don't care because my collection is much more vast and valuable, at least in my eyes!:D danderson400 08-12-2017, 05:31 PM My first VCR model looked like this... http://vintageelectronics.betamaxcollectors.com/images/magnavoxvhsvcrmodelvr8525gy01_1.jpg That VCR i used in my early lifehood. Then in 1987 i swapped for this one. http://vintageelectronics.betamaxcollectors.com/images/toshibavhsvcrmodelm-7850_1.jpg That VCR i used for many years, up till late 90s.
