Bea Arthur was ready to walk away from “The Golden Girls” on more than one occasion, according to a new tell-all book about the cult-favorite 1980s sitcom. How interesting there's a new book about the series, but..."behind" the lanai? It should be just "from" the lanai or possibly "from around" the lanai, but not "behind"; it's not a curtain.

I can certainly get why the "big and ugly" jokes would be offensive to Bea. But obviously she had other reasons for leaving the show. If that were her major complaint, I can't imagine the writers would refuse to tone it down, in order to keep her.
