I wasn't sure where to put this, but if the moderators think it should be posted somewhere else please feel free to move it.

But it's pretty straight forward. Have you ever known a man or a woman who happened to have the same name as a famous person? It can be an actor, singer/musician, or an athlete. I think I've known at least a couple.

First one I can think of. I have a nephew whose wife's late paternal grandfather was named Robert Wagner. Robert Wagner of course also being the name of a famous actor.

I just thought it would make an interesting discussion.

I saw a woman on our local news the other day and her name was Kathy Kinney. (Same as Mimi on Drew Carey!)

My name was Patricia/Patty Duke before I married.

Then you can claim to be the "real" Patty Duke, since the famous one was actually born Anna Marie Duke.

I had a college roommate named Steve Allen, and I used to work with a man named Dennis James. (The game show host Dennis James was born Demi James Sposa.)

The only one I can think of is a classmate in high school named Joe Gallo and we always used to call him "Crazy Joe" as his name was the same as NYC Mobster "Crazy" Joe Gallo.

He denied relation.

That's very interesting Patty Duke. I figured you used that as a screen name because you're a fan of the actress Patty Duke, of course her real first name was actually Anna.

Back when I was in middle school there was a kid in the grade behind me (although I was never friends with him and if I remember his dad was in the Air Force, being that there was an Air Force base in my school district) whose name was Michael Knight. Coincidentally this was back in the 80s when the TV series Knight Rider was becoming popular. David Hasselhoff of course playing the title character whose name was also Michael Knight! And then there's also the connection of there being a soap opera actor whose name is also Michael Knight.

Yes. We had a couple of politicians named Hank Williams, Jan Brady (okay a fictional name but still)and Tina Turner. A local trustee is named Mike Brady and another is Robert Reed. In the suburb I grew up with two of the trustees were named Robert Palmer and John Taylor (members of the Power Station, John Taylor is also in Duran Duran). Speaking of rock, I met a guy named Robert Smith (the Cure). I went to school with a Michael Jackson and a Carol Brady and worked with a Janet Jackson (this was when that one album was huge and she got teased a lot).

I knew of more and I'll think of them if I can remember.

I have a step-uncle named Stephen King.

I went to school with a Stephen King. I was friends with his brother and they were both in my apartment one time.

In the suburb I grew up with two of the trustees were named Robert Palmer and John Taylor (members of the Power Station, John Taylor is also in Duran Duran).

I don't know too much about Duran Duran, so I didn't know that there was a John Taylor in the band. John Taylor is one of my bosses.

I'm not sure if this counts or not, but I share a name with one of the founders of The Source magazine and Hip Hop Weekly magazine (he does spell his last name differently than me, but it's pronounced the same).

I was thinking about how many lesser-known celebrities also share famous names with others. For example, during the 1980s, the PGA golf tour featured a golfer named George Burns. Also, whenever I see Brian Williams on NBC News, I think about another Brian Williams, who has been a Canadian sportscaster for over 50 years at CBC and TSN. Other examples:

Corey Hart: Canadian pop star from the 1980s known for hits like Sunglasses At Night and Never Surrender//baseball star with Milwaukee Brewers

John Madden: NFL coach and FOX TV legend//former hockey star with the New Jersey Devils and Chicago Blackhawks

Here's a real strange one for you:

Until he was recently fired, The Fan 590 radio station in Toronto had an afternoon sports host named Greg Brady. Can you imagine what he must put up with each day?

Ironically there were two others in Duran Duran with the last name of Taylor (none are related)and both share their names with others. The former guitarist is named Andy Taylor and that was the name on the Andy Griffith Show. The drummer is named Roger Taylor and isn't the drummer from Queen.

Somebody mentioned a John Taylor.

That reminded me I know a John Taylor, and his oldest son is named Andy Taylor. So they share their names with two members of Duran Duran.

My father was a fan of Patty Duke so when I was born he named me Patricia, our last name was Duke and I was called Patty. Yes I took some teasing growing up but nothing bad.

TRUE story, I dated a guy a couple of times with the last name Hurst.

Micheal Jackson is a common name. Michael+Jackson. Both Michael and Jackson are extremely common names. I lived in my childhood neighborhood with a kid named Michael Jackson. Also, there is a murderer on Death Row in Florida who buried an elderly couple alive to steal their money, which happened because his girlfriend Tiffany Cole (who is also on Death Row) knew them which caused the violence. Hopefully Florida will get to execute them both.

When I was working as a casino dealer in Mississippi in the 1990's, there was a supervisor named "Jim McDougal". Our name tags stated our names and what state we are from, and all of us were from Mississippi, Tennessee or Arkansas and he was from Arkansas.

He was a nice, cool guy about my age and one night on a craps game, I made fun of him and asked if he knew Hillary Clinton, and he laughed it off and said he had some swampland to sell. Especially then, in our region, his name was something famous and he probably had to make jokes all the time.

When a nephew and niece of mine were in school there was a boy that also went to the same school whose name was Sean Conery, same as the actor but slightly different spelling obviously (the actor's last name is Connery). I sometimes wondered if he was named after the actor.
