It's very difficult to narrow them down to three but I'll go with, "New Neighbor Sam", "Hi-Fi Gilligan" and "Pass the Vegetables, Please"

Mary Ann thinking she's Ginger is OK, but none of them are my favorites.

Off the top of my head, I like the one with Vito Scotti when Gilligan dreams he's El Presidente, Lord Beasley, and Gilligan winning the lottery.

Yes. The Japanese sailor ep. was funny!:D I'm not too fond of the black and white eps. but that one was really funny! And Big man, little stick was funny too!!!

Although I think "Don't Bug the Mosquitos" is more of a "classic" episode, I voted for "The Second Ginger Grant" because of the extensive look we got at Ginger's wardrobe--even though some of what Mary Ann as Ginger wore was never seen on Ginger, and even though some of the dresses altered by Mary Ann were later seen on Ginger in their original conditions (though this probably had more to do with production order being different from airing order than a continuity problem, because, clearly, GI was a show very concerned with continuity...lol).

Some of my other favorites are "Castaway Pictures Presents," "Operation Steamheat," and "The Friendly Physician." I also liked "Chain of Command," as it showed where each of the castaways' priorities were at. Explains why it took them so bloody long to get off the island.

"Don't Bug the Mosquitos" is my absolute favorite, hands down.

I could go on and on about why I love that ep -- everything from Mary Ann's shriek when she and Gilligan are rocking out (watching the Mosquitos perform), to Gilligan's granny glasses and splitting his pants, to The Honeybees' tune, to Mrs. Howell's "Delilah" scissor-play...

Among the other 2 in the poll, I like both very much -- probably Miss Castaway more than the amnesia-type one.

Among other episodes, I like the premise of the phone line crashing onto the island and the Castaways tapping into it. One of many showing the Professor's skills. Another memorable one was the landing of the US spacecraft: "CHICKEN PEOPLE" when they get into the glue & feathers!

In the black & whites, I like Mary Ann's gentle feelings for Gilligan, and also silliness like when Gilligan eats the products like paste & shellac made-up to repair the boat. (It seems that later on, any boat repairs were never even considered anymore.)

Great choices. My fave is Big Man on a Little Stick. Denny Miller was awesome as muscleman Duke Williams. He captivated the girls...for a while at least..."Skin and Bones?", too funny!

It's hard to pick 3, but I do love Don't Bug The Mosquitoes.

The Friendly Physician. The only time they're all off the island (that isn't a dream episode), and seeing them impersonate each other is hilarious.

For the 3rd, And Then There Were None, Gilligan's Island was the best when it came to dream sequences, normally I don't like these on sitcoms, but GI's were always funny. This one is probably my favorite for that, also love the mystery aspect of the episode, and Gilligan thinking he's responsible for everyone disappearing.

I also loved "Gilligan the goddess" The last ep. of the series! All the men dressed as women to decide who would make the best Goddess! That was hysterical!

I forgot how hilarious the Skipper looked in Ginger's sarong outfit! This was more an impersonation of Gilligan's mother-in-law than Ginger. And the Professor's look shows just how clueless he was with ANYthing non-academic.

This is why I love this show! It's basically silly and slapstick, but these moments show a trueness to the characters and humanity's need to view the world through their own colored glasses.

The blush in circles is hilarious! Each man (somewhat) represents his beauty contestant choice, though the Professor looks more like Raggedy Ann than Mary Ann.

Another one that stands out for me is when the crate filled with silent film material reaches the island. The results of the castaways' attempt to make a movie are so wacky, including extreme close-ups, negatives, reversed film...

I was going to add that on one of Lucille Ball's interviews on The Dick Cavett Show from 1974 (recently aired on Decades), she talks about actually having received radio transmissions in the fillings of her teeth in the WWII era -- just like Gilligan did on this series!

This episode, and the crate of costumes, also could also explain where the material for many of Ginger's gowns came from, if one wants to inject a shot of reality into GI.

I like the one where Gilligan has to marry the native girl that is hilarious. So is the one where he wears chicken feathers and the guys from the satellite think he is a martian. I think it is also really cool how Gilligan becomes a transistor radio. There are just so many classics and how the a-hole at CBS downed this for Gunsmoke- incredulous...

Big Man on a Little Stick is my fave. As you say very funny. Love the scene where Gilligan runs into Duke collapses on the ground while Duke is unbudged and Gilligan looks up and says, "Did I hurt you?"...LOL...then Duke shows him that's impossible by flexing his enormous muscle in Gilligan's face (couldn't get the pic to come up)!

I voted "The Second Ginger Grant", though there are runner-ups that I still enjoy a lot today:

"Pass the Vegetables, Please"
"Smile, You're on Mars Camera"
"Voodoo"
"The Hunter"

Though a fair amount of seasons 2 and 3 are still great.

Never got into season 1 and I'm embarrassed to admit it's because it's in b/w. I prefer the original palette, or even b/w if it was shot on b/w film and yet for GI it's the one exception. GI was always meant for larger than life color. But the colorization of season 1 ended up looking WORSE than b/w - poor sky color, incorrect blue hue for the Skipper, whites not given color cast so they pop out and look dreadfully out of place, etc.But those colorizations were done decades ago. Nowadays they'd do a lot better.

I totally agree!! Normally I love the old black and white shows, with the exception of Gilligan's Island ! To me it really picked up in Season 2, the Island needed some color for sure, and the story line got much cooler too when it was in color IMO! ;)

And Season one black and white eps. that were made into colorized episodes to me are just drab and blah!! :p

I highly recommend revisiting season 1. There are some real gems that year, like "The Big Gold Strike", "President Gilligan", "How to be a Hero", etc.

Although I agree that GI is a show that was always meant for color, I've found there's a certain atmosphere and charm in season 1 that's missing from the color years. I don't know how or what it is exactly, but the episodes seem darker, if not in plot then in overall execution. The music, the lighting, and the directing give it a very nice, mysterious feel. For these reasons I adore season 1 just as much as 2-3.

And yeah I agree completely on the colorization. I can't stand those ancient MeTV prints. It's like watching a cheap cartoon.

They're all good, but I went with The Producer, with Phil Silvers, where they put on a musical version of Hamlet. Second would be The Postman Cometh, where Mary Ann believes she has eaten poison mushrooms.

Those are good but I also the Japanese sailor episodes & the 2 evil scientist episodes. It was SO good to get OFF the island for a change!

Vito Scotti was an amazing actor. I see no actor like him these days.
