Sometimes in shows they make up places, just for the show. I am curious is there such a place Coco beach (where Jeannie and Tony meant) or did they make that part up just for the show?

Cocoa Beach is indeed a real Florida city. Cape Canaveral is very close. It's on Florida's east coast.

It was kind of cool that they set the show in a real town near Cape Canaveral, which is where NASA was based in the 1960s. In another nod to reality, the reunion movies took place in Houston, which is where a lot of NASA operations moved in the 1970s.

We know that Cocoa Beach, Florida actually exists, even if in the first of the original episodes the narrator says that "Captain Nelson took her back to Cocoa Beach, a mythical town in a mythical state called Florida.. and there in this house the girl in the bottle plays spin the astronaut" In recent years Barbara Eden was there when the city of Cocoa Beach dedicated a new street to be known always as I Dream of Jeannie Lane!!:wave:

That is cute a street named I Dream of Jeannie. I suppose it would be interesting telling someone what street you live on. I live on I dream of Jeannie. Thats nice but what street. :)

Those are cool pics with Ms. Eden in them, but it appears that copying and pasting them to message boads is disabled! :confused:

It's too bad that signs are being stolen. That's why cities are sometimes reluctant to dedicate/rename streets to nostalgia.

Cocoa Beach seems like it would be an awesome place. Although the show was set in Cocoa Beach, the actual Nelson residence is located in Warner Brothers' studios, which you can't visit. That is a shame.
