Comedy Central Cancels "Moonbeam City" after 1 Season
by Nellie Andreeva
March 30, 2016
Comedy Central’s animated comedy series "Moonbeam City" was missing from the list of renewals the network announced yesterday, ahead of its upfront presentation.
That is because Comedy Central has opted not to order a second season of the series, an absurdist take on the gritty, sex-drenched crime dramas from the 1980s.
"Moonbeam City" featured an all-star cast — Rob Lowe, Elizabeth Banks, Will Forte and Kate Mara — and developed a cult following. But it struggled to attract a wide audience, with its first season, which aired in late 2015 behind Comedy Central’s juggernaut "South Park", able to hold onto about 20% of its big lead-in.
"Moonbeam City" also received mixed reviews from critics though it landed an Annie nomination.
