"The Blacklist" Spinoff Eyed at NBC, Famke Janssen Set as Female Lead
by Michael Ausiello
March 29, 2016

Spinoff-happy NBC is looking to turn another one of its hit dramas into a bonafide franchise. The Peacock network is developing a spinoff of "The Blacklist", with Famke Janssen set as the female lead.

The May 12 episode of "The Blacklist" will serve as a backdoor pilot for the potential series. Janssen’s character, Susan “Scottie” Halsted, will be introduced in the May 5 episode.

Rumor has it that "Blacklist" regular Ryan Eggold will have a major role in the project, with Tom and Scottie’s relationship mirroring the mothership’s Liz (Megan Boone)/Red (James Spader) dynamic.

A source, meanwhile, stresses that there is currently no series commitment for the spinoff. A decision will likely be made in May.

Tawny Cypress To Co-Star in "The Blacklist" Spinoff
by Nellie Andreeva
March 30, 2016

Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable) has been cast as a series regular opposite Famke Janssen, Ryan Eggold and Edi Gathegi in NBC’s proposed spinoff from "The Blacklist".

Like fellow new "Blacklist" addition Janssen, Cypress will recur on the last couple of episodes of the original series this season and become a regular should NBC proceed with the project as a new series for next season.

Cypress will play Nez Rowan (formerly known as Harper). Janssen will play Susan “Scottie” Halsted.

No details are being provided on the spinoff’s premise, but I hear it focuses on Scottie’s relationship with Tom (Eggold), which is said to be similar to Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader)’s relationship with Liz (Megan Boone) on the original series.

At six feet tall, Famke Janssen has always stood out from the crowd. The Dutch beauty started her career as a model before breaking out as orgasmic Bond villain Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye and beloved mutant Jean Grey in the X-Men franchise. But since her character's dramatic death in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, the once high-profile Janssen has somewhat disappeared from the spotlight. If you've been missing her as much as we have, here's where she's gone—and why.
