Back in the old days, it was very easy to post comments on You Tube Videos. I posted messages on quite a bit of uploads including uploads of "Gimme a Break!" episodes. I managed to get quite a few replies too. Those were the days! Now that they have re-engineered their system, being allowed to post means going through more red tape than someone like me can handle. This being the case, I have not posted on that site for over a year. Three days ago, someone posted a comment on one of the uploads of the episode "Julie Smokes". This poster raised the question as to why the chief smacked Julie. I think the answer if pretty clear. In the first place, the chief did not condone smoking, especially since he had lost his wife to this habit. When he confronted Julie about it, she said that she had done no such thing. He gave her the benefit of the doubt and believed her. When he saw smoke coming out of Julie's mouth, he realized that he had been lied to. Smacking her across the face was a reflex action. I would have loved to have been able to post this reality on You Tube!
