View Full Version : On pride & privacy, why did Sam ride in on a dark brown horse?
Bonniegirl 03-13-2016, 03:24 AM When Sam was talking about a Palomino horse throughout the show? They are light golden tan horses like Mr. Ed !!! I wonder why they didn't get a Palomino for Sam to ride in on instead they got the dark brown horse? Actually it really should have been a white horse!! In fairy tales doesn't the prince ride in on a white horse and claim the fair maiden?;)

Bonniegirl 03-16-2016, 02:31 AM It's funny how Ann conveniently had the proper footwear (boots) and jeans on to ride on a horse!!! What if she had been wearing a dress and high heals?! LOL!!!:D
Anna Karenina 03-19-2016, 02:36 AM Wasn't it convenient how the Royers were able to recognize those stray dogs and who their owner was? In the big city of Indianapolis they just happened to belong to somebody they knew. Uncanny!:D
That's TV for you.
Cute pooches though, they should have kept them as a replacement for the recently departed Alex who got written off in 2 lines.;)

Yeah!!! :D Those two dogs were kind of random! Sam just out of the blue brings them on into the apartment ,and one of the dogs, the terrier type one was pretty big! Those dogs obviously looked like they were well kept and fed and belonged to someone. They didn't look like mangy stray animals! It was strange that a grown man would be so quick to taking them home and wanting to keep them, not trying to find the owners, like a kid would do!! :D
And yes very ironic that Mark and Barbara knew who the dogs were and exactly where the owner lived!! ;)
They were really cute!! The big one reminded me of a terrier dog we had when I was a kid!!! :)

Anna Karenina 05-07-2016, 07:22 PM Mark and his ill fitting jacket, checking in!
Anna Karenina 05-07-2016, 07:25 PM Katherine seems appalled by the idea of premarital relations in this episode but then quickly gives it up to the younger guy on the cruise in the next episode and brags about it.
Paging continuity police!
Anna Karenina 05-07-2016, 07:27 PM Max looks so gorgeous in that color.
Anna Karenina 05-07-2016, 07:28 PM This is such a romantic proposal.
Anna Karenina 05-07-2016, 07:29 PM Oh, saddle up red rider!

Bonniegirl 05-07-2016, 08:50 PM Max looks so gorgeous in that color.
Yes! In that maroon or burgundy sweater! He did look hot, it is a good color for him! ;) And he finally got out of the pajamas! :D The mystery was solved as to why he was the only one not dressed that Opus was mentioning before. He was the only one that didn't have to go out anywhere. He was going to be in writing all day.:)

Yeah! She was going on and on about Mark's father the "Rat head"!
Another thing that was inconsistent , Julie and Max were staying at Grandma's place! Than in the Cruise ep. Grandma said Julie and Max got their own place! Their own place where? A few eps later they all move into the house together. That was a really short time they had a place between Grandma's and living at the house with Mark and Barbara! :D
Bonniegirl 05-07-2016, 09:07 PM Mark and his ill fitting jacket, checking in!
Yeah that jacket!! Good Lord! It's a shame that thing didn't get destroyed in the explosion at the rooming house!
Nordy 05-07-2016, 09:14 PM This show sucks??!!! Is he mad?? I think he needs to sleep on the couch...lol
Oh and by the way, I'm getting a divorce!!!
You and your two sons get an apartment in Indy and start over. Tip- -keep the front door locked.
Nordy 05-07-2016, 09:26 PM ^^^ I still say deadbolt hahaha

Can David be my divorce lawyer and become my new boyfriend? :D
Hold out for the maestro.
1960'sTVfan 05-08-2016, 01:32 PM Oh and by the way, I'm getting a divorce!!! George watched with me today and had the NERVE to say "This show sucks"! WHAT, my ODAAT that I treasure ,my whole life revolves around SUCKS!!!!
LOL, OK, get your divorce, then come out here and move in with me. I'll watch ODAAT with you, I'll even tolerate your obsession for Michael Lembeck. Anyhow, after spending some time with me, you'd lose interest in Michael Lembeck and all other males for that matter, I'd make sure of that.
So how does that sound to you, do we have a deal? ;)

Man, even David didn't come on this strong, and he proposed twice .
1960'sTVfan 05-08-2016, 03:52 PM We have a deal only if you wear a frilly apron and make me fish chowder!
I can do that, I can cook. Proceed with your divorce, I'll welcome you here with an apron on, fish chowder will be prepared and ready on the table upon your arrival! ;)
Anna Karenina 05-08-2016, 04:00 PM Man, even David didn't come on this strong, and he proposed twice .
He ended up with the still alive Nick, remember? They are both in a better place!

Yes. Happily, quietly living their lives together. Till Nick catches David with ice cream woman. Then all hell breaks loose.

I might be open to that idea, we are all friends here in these discussion forums. Maybe I should make like Sam Royer and trot off with Bonnie on horseback.

Make sure to wear your apron! And make sure it's a talking horse like Mr. Ed lol ;)
1960'sTVfan 05-08-2016, 08:33 PM Make sure to wear your apron! And make sure it's a talking horse like Mr. Ed lol ;)
Talking horse might be difficult to find, I'd probably have to settle for a regular plain Palomino. ;) No, I don't think I'll wear an apron at my wedding. Aprons belong in the kitchen.
1960'sTVfan 05-09-2016, 12:03 AM If you are able to get a talking Mr. Ed type horse I will go for your offer! I'd love to be the new Carol Post! Maybe I would forget about Michael Lembeck if I had a cool, talking horse pet like Mr. Ed! ;)
Horses don't talk, but I could train it to move it's lips and throw my voice to make it seem like it talks. You'd have to settle for that. And besides, you said we'd have a deal if I wore a frilly apron and made you fish chowder. I said OK. Are you going back on your word already?
1960'sTVfan 05-09-2016, 12:10 AM Are you like the notorious Best Man that I know and love that will steal the Bride away from the Groom? And than kiss my Sister and curl her toes? :happyface ;) :D
LOL, I imagine he is, that's why he made the suggestion. It would not result in a "Julie" type wedding, I'd make sure of that. ;)

I'm at least happy you both got the reference .🤔
1960'sTVfan 05-09-2016, 10:28 AM I'd love to be the new Carol Post!
Do you resemble Connie Hines? I'd like to have a wife who looks like her, she was adorable during her Mister Ed days, nice personality too. :eyes:
Mister Ed was a strange show. Wilbur Post was always hanging out in the stable with that horse, and left his lovely wife alone and neglected inside the house.  I understand the coolness of having a horse that talks, but still poor Carol always got neglected, playing second fiddle to a horse. Only in the world of 1960's fantasy sitcoms would this happen.
my Husband doesn't have a talking horse pal, but he hangs out with his cousins and friends drinking beer and ignoring me when he's off from work .
Please tell me you're exaggerating here...
1960'sTVfan 05-09-2016, 03:34 PM Well yes, I'm blonde and bubbly.;) I'm a bit older and a bit heavier than Carol Post though!
I think Wilbur had his office out in the barn. That is why he was in there so much of the time supposedly! :D Much more of the time was spent hanging out and talking to the horse though rather than working! But Carol had the time to clean, cook, watch her soaps etc. without Wilbur being in the way! ;) Much like with me, my Husband doesn't have a talking horse pal, but he hangs out with his cousins and friends drinking beer and ignoring me when he's off from work . Gives me a chance to hang with my internet friends and have my TV boyfriends to keep me busy! ;) :D
If you're a tad on the plump side, that's OK, it just means there is more of you to love! ;) :D
I agree that with Wilbur in the barn, it gave Carol time to clean and cook, etc. Wilbur still spent too much time out there, but the horse was the star of the show, so that was to be expected I guess.
Your husband hangs with friends, drinks beer and ignores you when he's off work? Is it possible he's taking you for granted? I don't know the situation, I'm not there, I'm just speculating. Well, if you ever feel you need a change, like I said come out here to me. I would never ignore you, and I would keep you busy I promise you that! ;) :D
Bonniegirl 05-09-2016, 03:36 PM Please tell me you're exaggerating here...
I didn't mean It in a bad way! He doesn't cheat ( he's around in the neighborhood with the guys) , He's a good provider and he doesn't beat me! And he's here a lot too, sitting on the couch ignoring me drinking beer! :D Not always ignoring, we watch sports and movies together , hang with his Family , go out to Target and stuff! It's fine. We are just an older married couple is all! :)
Bonniegirl 05-09-2016, 03:38 PM If you're a tad on the plump side, that's OK, it just means there is more of you to love! ;) :D

Anna Karenina 05-09-2016, 10:47 PM Anna!!!  How are ya??!!
I am tired enough to sleep!
How are you?
OMG! I definitely want to be the Maid of honor at THAT wedding! :D
Deal. But whose?
Nordy 05-09-2016, 11:09 PM I am tired enough to sleep!
How are you?
Ehhhh can't complain. Trying to get this work week over and its taking freaking forever!
IDK? As in the tradition of Julie's park wedding, which one of you would end up marrying me?
I've found some of the posts in this topic lately a bit....is unusual a safe word to use?...so I've decided there's no safe answer here, and respectfully request to move on.

Yeah! It really did go way off the topic of Pride and Privacy!
And I've deleted a lot of my posts. What started out as one silly comment, I'm sure everybody knew I was joking about getting a divorce because my Husband isn't a big fan of ODAAT ! Well let's just say, I hope to stop making more of a spectacle of myself here than I already have! ;)
And to clarify that I am not THAT big. I could stand to lose a little weight, (maybe 30 at the most) but I'm not huge or obese! ;)
1960'sTVfan 05-10-2016, 12:40 AM Yeah! It really did go way off the topic of Pride and Privacy!
Threads go off topic all the time, that's nothing new. You contributed to this one going off topic by saying you're getting a divorce because your husband said ODAAT sucks.
Svenfan1234 05-10-2016, 07:01 AM OMG! I definitely want to be the Maid of honor at THAT wedding! :D
That would be the shortest marriage ever.

Of course you were joking. You're not getting a divorce just because your husband said he dislikes ODAAT, he'd have to do something much worse than that. Now god forbid if he ever said anything negative about Michael Lembeck, you'd divorce him then for sure make no mistake about it.
And to clarify that I am not THAT big. I could stand to lose a little weight, (maybe 30 at the most) but I'm not huge or obese! ;)
Some women in their 50's are a tad on the plump side, nothing wrong with that. Plump women can still be attractive. ;)
Svenfan1234 05-10-2016, 04:32 PM ^I agree. Nothing wrong with being overweight.
