View Full Version : Was Jo Transgendered? Gemini_89 03-03-2016, 08:34 PM Yea? No? Post your reasons here...... IllinoisTVFan 03-03-2016, 08:58 PM Not at all. I liked Jo because she wasn't a girly girl. I'm not a girly girl and never was. I preferred sports and electronics to clothes shopping to so called "female" activities like babies (I'm not into babies), bridal/baby showers (I never attend these, they are stupid and lame), and shoes. I'm not gay or transgendered and actually this is offensive to assume if someone isn't stereotypical male/female then they must be transgender or gay. Gemini_89 03-03-2016, 09:06 PM Not at all. I really wasn't trying to be offensive, just trying to open up a discussion. I think its offensive that Tomboys are seen as "cool" but effeminate guys aren't seen as cool. If a guy dressed up in a dress, wore make-up, refered to himself as 'one of the girls think of me as your sister' than everybody would be calling him a freak, gay, or transgendered, etc... Jo literally wore men suits, (not as a costume but because she just feels more comfortable in displaying who she really is.....) referred to herself as 'one of the guys think of me as Natalie's brother', etc......So i can kind of see why some may think that she may be transgendered. I don't care if she is or not, all i know is that Jo is awesome as hell and she was ahead of her time! I don't see anything wrong with being trans-gendered or gay. No diss at all. Vahan 03-03-2016, 09:16 PM No, and as a straight man myself, I find some androgynous women attractive. Some even moreso than feminine women. The problem is many people assume a woman who is not girly girl is gay or wants to be a man and that's why it bugs me when people (not saying you, just in general)feel this way. I've been accused of being gay because I wanted to do traditionally male things. Honestly, there is a difference between the two extremes. If a guy wants to wear a dress, that's fine but if he wants to use the female restroom for example that's another issue. Now if he wants to be like David Bowie (RIP)who was not transgender that's different. Hope this makes sense. Sanaa Lathan's character was a Tomboy in Love & Basketball, and i never seen anybody calling her gay. She never gave off gay vibes and she had scorching hot chemistry with the Male Lead, Omar Epps. For me personally Jo reminds me of some Studs that used to live in my old neighborhood. She gives off gay vibes to me and she has more chemistry with females than she has with men..... Wawwie 03-03-2016, 09:42 PM I really wasn't trying to be offensive, But you are.... congratulations.... Gemini_89 03-03-2016, 09:52 PM But you are.... congratulations.... I found it offensive when they made Coach Beiste from Glee a transgender when she was really just a Tomboy. She never gave an inkling that she was trans-gendered. She also made it clear that she was Straight, unlike Jo. Jo is on a whole different level, JO was a straight up Stud! Hahahaha. Making Beiste a transgender was kinda sending a bad message to Tomboys who looked and acted like her. Now THAT was offensive. |
