Once every four years, an extra day is added to the calendar, so time and motion can stay in sync. It was decided to put the extra day in the month of February, I assume this is because February is the shortest month on the calendar with only 28 days. While I'm not an expert on the subject, it seems logical to me that it really doesn't matter what month gets the extra day, as long as it's placed in there somewhere on the calendar.

Now I know no one is going to change the calendar, but just for conversation sake, wouldn't it be better to have the extra day in summer, rather than winter? How about having the extra day in the month of June instead of February? This way, there would be 31 days in May, June, July, and August. Sounds great to me. :)

Also, for people born on Feb. 29th, they are only able to celebrate their actual birthdates once every four years. When do they celebrate their birthday during the other three years, on March 1st?
