The TV show known as "Cheers" was first shown in the fall of 1982. This is one year after "Gimme a Break!" made its debut. I would say that, in addition to both being situation comedies, these two shows had a lot of other things in common. In the first place, they were both on the same network. On top of that, they were both very popular with Generation X. In addition, they were both very daring when it came to mentioning such realities as sex, religion and war. I guess you could say that, just like a lot of other shows that I have already written about, these two shows both took the barriers that shows like "All in the Family" had broken down and ran with them. By the way, there was a five-year overlap of the time that both of these shows were on NBC prime-time. However, I have another reason for writing about "Cheers" on this board. But, because of how much I have already rambled on in this thread, I think that I should start another one to explain to the reader what caused me to think of "Cheers" in the first place. I think that I should give the reader a chance to absorb what I have already written before moving to the next issue. Be back in a minute.
