I'd buy it! I've heard many good things about the show so I'd love to finally be able to see it!

If they DO release a "Phyllis" DVD, they'd better do it very soon as Miss Leachman's turning 90 [!] this year and apart from maybe Miss Torres [2nd Julie] and Mr. Lawlor [Leonard Marsh], I can't think of anyone else connected to the series who's still alive or has anything to do with the business so there'd be no one else around to make commentaries.

Not sure what they're waiting for. Their target audience isn't going to last forever.

I've never been a fan of the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, or Phyllis. Just not my cup of tea I guess. Lou Grant is a good show, I like it, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to buy it on DVD.

Rhoda was good, MTM was awful and the same with Phyllis

It's your opinion. I thought all of them were great

I fully agree about MTM and Phyllis. Rhoda was tolerable for it's first two seasons. The shows "jump the shark" moment was when the writers made Rhoda and Joe break up. Things went downhill quickly after that.

And Mary was overshadowed by all the other characters on the show unlike Rhoda

Mary was overshadowed by the other characters on MTM because they all acted like weirdos. Murray, Ted, Georgette, Sue Ann, all of them were weirdos. I also think MTM was a poorly written show for the most part. Always been amazing to me that the show lasted 7 seasons. I think Mary Tyler Moore gained a good reputation from her 5 season run on The Dick Van Dyke Show, which went a long way towards her own show being popular like it was.

After MTM ended and Ed Asner got his own show, the hour long drama series Lou Grant, the Lou Grant character finally got a chance to shine.

And he was the main one who outshined Mary on MTM lol

Yes, Lou was a weirdo too.  Mary generally played it straight while being surrounded by weird people. That's why she was overshadowed. Mary worked at a TV station newsroom, which is supposed to be a serious place but couldn't be taken seriously because her associates all acted like goofballs. It was such a poor concept. As I mentioned previously, when Ed Asner got his own show, the hour long drama series Lou Grant, the Lou Grant character finally had a chance to shine, being able to play it straight and be taken seriously.

Mary's a classic, Rhoda was pretty good for awhile, Phyllis, let's just say there was a reason it was cancelled relatively quickly.

And that Phyllis Theme Song may have been the worst in TV history

If there's a reason to watch Phyllis, it's to see Lisa Gerritsen. She's a cutie pie! :D

When I asked Shout Factory about a Lou Grant DVD,they said "that was a great show",so nice its coming out on DVD,I think Phyllis the complete series DVD would sell well,I liked Phyllis but all the changes in season2 and the death of Judith Lowry, sealed the fate of the show.

Are you kidding me? It was one of the best themes ever, paying homage to the title character a la "Mame", then ending with that ironic final line and Cloris scowling into the camera!

Someone just screaming Phyllis over and over doesn't make a theme song great

I just Youtubed it to remind myself. It s not a classic ear worm jingle, but it does have that nice sardonic twist ending, which is pretty unique.

I'm not a fan of the Phyllis theme song, mostly because I'm not a fan of that genre of music. The ending to it was funny, though.
