In the past month or so, I have posted a bunch of threads about how "Gimme a Break!" fits into Social Darwinism. I have explained to the reader how shows like "Gimme a Break!" took the barriers that shows like "All in the Family" broke down and ran with them. This topic has managed to generate a few replies by various readers. By the way, the barriers that "All in the Family" broke down and that "Gimme a Break!" ran with include issues related to sex, religion, politics and any number of other controversial topics. I also wrote about how, in years to come, we have shows like "Friends" that took these topics and ran even further with them. Well, four years before "Gimme a Break!" made its debut, we have the birth of "Three's Company". In the recent past, that show's page seems to be getting a little bit more action than this one. On the top of that board, there is a thread called "Disguise". I am the most recent person to reply to that thread. The starter of this thread mentioned how, in the very first episode, there was a situation in which a man poked a woman in the breast! This was a very daring incident for the seventies. In my response, I mentioned how clearly I remember that incident and how the line "he touched my bosom" has stuck with me all of these years! I am now telling you guys about it to make the point that situations like that was one more stepping stone that the world had to experience in order to get to the issues dealt with on shows like "Gimme a Break!" and eventually "Friends".
