When a family lives in the project the rent is VERY LOW which is the reason they are there in the first place. And a family who lives in the projects has food stamps to buy food since their income is so low. That's why the show was not realistic because no one struggles to eat and pay rent who lives in low income housing.

If the Evans was supposed to have money problems then the family should have been living in a apartment or a small house with the mom working along with the father.

Anyone who has to take a place in the projects would automatically qualify for food stamps. LOL

OH Nuts!

Totally agree the show was poorly written. Cliched, stereotyped and very one-dimensional. I almost never watch it on Antenna.

I've known quite a few people and families, white and black, who lived in housing projects, and life was rarely that grim... not a whole lot different from the lifestyle portrayed on Good Times at all.

If they wasted their food stamps early in the month, yeah, there could be some lean times.
