I discovered the TV show The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency when I bought it on DVD and discovered it starred Anika Noni Rose and I would like to know why HBO didn't have Season 2 of The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and it seems that this show only lasted one season. Did The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency get cancelled due to low ratings or was HBO planning to replace it with another show. I think HBO did an awesome job turning The No. Ladies Detective Agency books by Alexander McCall Smith into an exciting drama series,
Do you remember this show?,

I liked it a lot. Jill Scott and Rose were wonderful. Don't know what HBO's excuse was.

The first time I saw The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency I was so surprised at how talented Jill Scott was as an actress because I have one of her albums and not only did she surprise me with her singing but she is a wonderful actress as well. I also mainly got The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency because I'm a fan of Anika Noni Rose and have followed her career since she provided the voice of Princess Tiana from Disney's The Princess And The Frog and Anika Noni Rose did an excellent job in The No. Ladies Detective Agency as well. My mother also liked The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency too and wants to read some of The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency novels someday soon,
Thank you for your wonderful reply Edison,

I cannot understand why HBO decided to pull The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency after one season because it seemed to be a really interesting show with a good storyline and also the music that was played throughout each episode was amazing and Jill Scott played the leading lady to perfection and did a great accent as well. And when I showed it to my mom she liked The No. Ladies Detective Agency very much and she wanted to borrow it so she can see it. I wish there was a soundtrack to the show as well

Most the time HBO cancels a show is due to low ratings and/or viewership that is not in the 18-49 age range. Since more people are now buying HBO that are over 50 years old; HBO may in the future do programming for this age range since it a pay per view channel. But in general, programming is aimed at the 18-34 age bracket since they are what advertisers want to attract! People 50 and over make zero money for the networks. They do try to help those 50 and older people with sub channel networks like MyTV and Antenna TV, etc... and the advertisers who want to reach those people too. I kind of say away from watching these subchannels since the commercials are pretty sad: reverse mortgages, funeral insurances, walking bath tubs, fear of falling products, various pain reliefs, crippied aids, etc...
