I read somewhere (I can't recall where) that Disappeared is coming back with new episodes.

Does anyone know when this will happen?

Thanks so much!

I haven't seen the commercial yet, but apparently ID is running one now saying it returns April 11th.

Yep they are running those commercials. I can't wait. I wonder if it will have the same narrator, since he's doing another show on there now.

I have occasionally seen Disappeared, but I'm glad that it's coming back with a new season of weekly episodes. It would have been unfortunate if the show had been canceled altogether, but its demotion to a series of specials was no better.

I don't agree with that one. The specials got publicity for several cases that wouldn't have occurred if the series got canceled outright.

True, but my opinion had nothing to do with the show per se. It concerned television in general. When any given regularly aired television program is reduced to a series of specials, it is typically a bad sign. Not only can such a demotion imply that the network is not as invested in the show as it used to be, but it can also be discouraging to the viewers, many of whom could eventually give up on the show. A regularly aired television series being reduced to a series of specials is like a baseball pitcher being demoted to pinch hitter.

By the way, Disappeared is not the only television show to be demoted to specials and then brought back on a regular basis. Another show was America's Funniest Home Videos. That show was relegated to specials in 1999, but came back as a regular series in 2001.
