View Full Version : How many people are still watching TV Land in 2016?
TVFactFan 02-06-2016, 06:37 PM I decided to get rid of TV land in 2013 because I noticed that N@N, Me-TV, and Antenna all had better programming
I can't even imagine what someone would turn to TV land for in 2016. For example this is their programming schedule for the rest of the evening
5:30pm-Reba
6pm-Mr. Deeds Movie
8pm-Everybody Loves Raymond
8:30pm-Everybody Loves Raymond
9pm-Everybody Loves Raymond
9:30pm-Everybody Loves Raymond
10pm-Everybody Loves Raymond
10:30pm-Every Loves Raymond
11pm-King of Queens
11:30mpm-King of Queens
12am-1am-King of Queens
1am-2am..New Adventures of Old Christine

YUP. LOL. Worst schedule on cable
Nordy 02-06-2016, 06:55 PM I do admit I own the complete series of King of Queens. I have always liked it. Doug kind of reminds me of myself a little bit, and I'm a Carrie fan =)

What makes KOQ a spinoff of ELR?
DJM77 02-06-2016, 07:13 PM The only time I watch TV Land anymore is if there are at least 3 other channels with something good on at the same time. That way I can just change the channel when TV Land decides to go into one of their frequent and long commercial breaks. If I didn't have that option then I wouldn't be able to stand 5 minutes of that miserable sorry excuse for a channel and I don't see how anyone else could either.

Comcast had the nerve to charge more money for TV land since 2013 LOL
That's why I don't have it
BigManMike 02-06-2016, 08:28 PM Never had cable and 10 or 15 years ago was always envious of people who had TV Land because it was great. Now, I could care less who has it. It sucks and is overloaded with commercials. I never plan to look at that sorry excuse for a channel. Even if I do get cable one day, I will never look at that channel. DVDs are the way to go for TV series. Cable is only now good for news, sports, and sometimes movies.

The last great era of TV land............2002 to 2007
tlc38tlc38 02-06-2016, 09:54 PM Sometimes while flipping through the channels, I'll watch "The Andy Griffith Show" or "The Golden Girls". That's about it.
tenter 02-06-2016, 09:55 PM Nick at Nite doesn't have good programming, but Me-TV and Antenna-TV (even though credits crunch little) have way good programming and variety.
TVLand and Nick at Nite sucks and have less variety and overplaying shows to death and ratings were in decline a lot. So I don't think we should talk more about this Nick at Nite or TVLand whatever thread you make. If you want to get rid of TVLand, why can't you call the cable for this?

i disagree, not just Full House is a kids show, but when season progresses and kids are in tweens/teens that could be watched by older kids/teens. Sometimes goes for Fresh Prince.
TVFactFan 02-06-2016, 10:37 PM so is fresh prince

It's one character on the show that's 12 in season 1 and every else is over 17
So how the f*ck would it be a kids show?

If the youngest character was 12 when it started why would you call it a TWEEN SHOW?
I still don't get it
Full house on the otherhand had 4 charcaters under 12 when it first started so I would feel weird watching that as a grown up

Yeah but for Full House for a teen, 2 characters would be age 17-18, one would be aged 12 or 13, and youngest is 8 yrs old. That would be for last season of Full House. So late seasons could be a tween/teen show. TWEEN means aged 9 to 12 years old to watch. Sometimes young adults with kids could watch the show. I used to watch Full House when I was a kid, and now as adult I sometimes watch those, but as Nick at Nite continues to play on primetime for long to death, I don't watch those anymore on Nick at Nite. I only watch those at my own timing. Full House doesn't always target most adult demos. Full House rating guidance is TV-G but those could sometimes have mature themes, like teens, being in love.
I merely saying Fresh Prince can sometimes be watched by kids and adults. I didn't say that it's not for adults. Fresh Prince guidance is TV-PG though I believe to be a fitting.
Look could you please delete bad comments, thanks.

Dr. Loveless 02-07-2016, 01:27 AM I stopped watching TV Land around 2001-2002, at the latest. Some good old shows were still being aired at the time, but things were already going downhill, and I could see that the writing was on the wall (same deal with Nick@Nite, Sci-Fi Channel, Cartoon Network, Game Show Network, BBC-America, etc).
It doesn't really matter too much, though, as my DVD collection now easily surpasses any line-up they've ever shown, or ever will. The only thing I really miss is the fun of watching/recording the occasional rarity that would pop up, in TV Land's early days.

It didn't really start going downhill until 2006. They aired lots of good shows between 2002 and 2006

TV Tan 02-07-2016, 02:26 AM We cut the cord about 6 months ago(?).
We got local OTA and Sling TV...
I would like the option of TV Land (and some others),

A cheaper bill and still times when nothing's on worth watching.
It's a bootyful thang.

I'm trying out Sling TV right now. It's alright although it hiccups a lot. I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not.
Kasey 02-07-2016, 10:56 AM I cancelled my cable and satellite in 2005 but even before that I didn't watch much TV Land or Nick after about 2002. IMO their acquisition of THE COSBY SHOW was the beginning of the end.

Yeah, it's a great concept, that needs some work.
There's competition coming this year though.
So maybe that'll give Sling a kick in the butt
to make their service more reliable.
That or we'll have better options. Time'll tell.

They were airing Three's Company up until last December. But I would certainly not watch it there because of the commercial infestations and the heavy edits that channel does.

Well I can say it was because of TV Land that I was introduced to the tag scenes of TC. Before TV land, there was no DVD's for me to see the eps uncut and my local tv station in the 80's and 90's never aired the tags. So it was TV land in 2002 that introduced to the tags for the first time in life
Becca3557 02-07-2016, 07:04 PM Only in complete desperation. Lousy schedule and too many commercials.
Penny Lane 02-07-2016, 09:58 PM I've pretty much given up on TVLand. Too many marathon episodes(Reba for example). And now that they have started producing their own sitcoms they have dropped many of my favorite shows. . It's boring now. :sleep2:

TV Tan 02-07-2016, 10:16 PM What's sling TV?
It's a live TV streaming service. $20/month for 22 (?) channels,
like AMC, TBS, ESPN, CNN, TNT, Cartoon Network, Lifetime and others.
With additional packaging offers if you need more.
Issues with the service include, low volume (which has gotten better),
drop in resolution, screen goes to black/rebuffering.
Some days are better than others on those issues, but it is a major issue.
Another notable issue is, only one device can be logged in at a time.
So if you have multiple rooms, only one can log on Sling at a time,
or you pay for a 2nd account...
I have my Roku hooked to two TVs (spliced A/V cables)
There's times I can do without Sling... other times I'm glad to have the option too.
At least the price is right, if anything.
Sling has a Facebook where you will see people losing it over the hiccups.
Another company called VIDGO TV plans to compete with Sling,
but details are extremely scarce, with plans to be announced
to a limited 'beta' market towards the end of March.
omg65 02-08-2016, 12:19 PM I still watch The Andy Griffith Show on TV Land sometimes and only if I feel like dealing with all the commercials and cuts to the episodes. The old original episodes are cut down to about 21 minutes of content from the original versions of 25 minutes. Also alot of the episodes aired on TVLand take about 35 minutes to complete so you have about 21 minutes of show and 14 minutes of commercials in those 35 minutes. That's awful.
I still watch Gunsmoke but only when I'm off work.
Antenna TV,METV and other classics channels have more than made up for TVLands best days so I watch those channels way more.TV Land could go away and the ONLY show I would miss would be Gunsmoke.

Kevin James had a recurring role on Raymond before he did King Of Queens, but it was a totally different character named Kevin Daniels.
Ray and Doug's character meet for the first time on King Of Queens in the DMV episode where Ray tries to get answers from Doug during their tests.

tenter 02-15-2016, 06:06 PM Consistent in being lousy since 2002.
Nick at Nite has been consistent in 2002 until 2012 and that's how fallen apart Nick at Nite has become. 2013 was dull, 2014 was troubling when acquiring shows and eventually kicked out in less than one year, 2015 fared lot worse and overplaying shows that stayed WAY too long.
They cancelled and kicked out programs:
All That (late Jun 2012-mid Jul 2012; three weeks)
Brady Bunch (rejoined Nick at Nite May 2012-late Jun 2012; 5 weeks)
Drake and Josh (Mar 2013; one week only)
Everybody Hates Chris (Sept 2009-Sept 2012)
Everybody Loves Raymond (Jan 2015-Aug 2015)
Family Matters (Jun 2008 until late Dec 2012)
Hangin with Mr. Cooper (Jan 2014-Sept 2014)
Hollywood Heights (Jun 2012-Aug 2012 only first 40 episodes, then later moved to TeenNick to air remaining episodes until Oct 2012)
Home Improvement (rejoined Nick at Nite Feb 2012-Jun 2012)
Hot in Cleveland (aired Jan 2016 reruns once per week; two weeks)
How I Met Your Mother (Sept 2014-Jun 2015)
Instant Mom (Sept 2013-Dec 2014; Jan 2016-current)
Kenan and Kel (late Jun 2012-mid Jul 2012; three weeks)
My Wife and Kids (rejoined Feb 2014-Mar 2014 in only marathon block)
The Nanny (2009-fall 2013 when Old Adventures of Christine joined)
Old Christine (from Oct 2013 to Mar 2014)
See Dad Run (from Oct 2012-Dec 2014)

TVFactFan 02-16-2016, 11:48 PM Nick at Nite has been consistent in 2002 until 2012 and that's how fallen apart Nick at Nite has become.
That 70s Show (May 2011-Jun 2012; Mar 2014-Sept 2014)
Victorious (Jul 2012-Aug 2012)
Wendell and Vinnie (Feb 2013-Sept 2013)
Yes Dear from May 2012-May 2014
I was so happy when they removed my wife and kids
tenter 02-17-2016, 12:09 PM Yeah.. Back in 2010, I was surprised that in March 2010 upfront Nick at Nite had acquired My Wife and Kids which is leaning more direction going to 2000's sitcom (actually 2000s started in 2009 when they had Malcolm in the Middle which only lasted for one year). It's a good fit for Nick at Nite, though it stayed in primetime 8PM in Aug 2010 to early or Aug 2012. And that's when this show moved to late night airings which lasted until 2013. And yeah im also happy it's not airing anymore in Nick at Nite.
Back to topic, I think that only current new viewers that watch on TVLand this year was only new episodes of Younger and Teachers, and some TVLand new single camera originals. But when it comes to classics, not lot of people watch TVLand anymore when it comes to off the clock programming, and not enough variety and too many commercials.
mets82 02-17-2016, 04:46 PM Now I will admit, I watch some shows on TVLAND like Andy Griffith but the way its presented with all the commercials and off the clock and credit crunches is very annoying.

tlc38tlc38 02-17-2016, 06:28 PM I agree! Nick at Nite used to be my main channel. Now it's not.

Sorry, I thought most people would agree with this, but now that Nick at Nite has becoming less variety and same 4 shows airing, nobody else is interested talking much about it, except saying they want old shows back and some made remarks or rants on it. I now stopped watching Nick at Nite but just looked at the schedule though if any news there. I wish I could try to stop obsessing about Nick at Nite but I find it hard since nobody posts any updates or something. If Nick at Nite would rebrand to new network or closing the network in future I could stop talking much about it and move on. Maybe I could bring up how bad Nick at Nite is and bad acquisitions that lasted less than year making the network look bad, maybe new thread later on..
I'm sorry for off thread. I barely watch TVLand anymore. I miss Facts of Life, though I don't understand TVLand anymore. There aren't any good shows for me to watch so I don't even care anymore.
I now stopped watching Nick at Nite
I barely watch TVLand anymore.
What occupies your viewing time nowadays?

tlc38tlc38 02-18-2016, 12:02 AM I think the biggest problem with TV Land & N@N is a huge lack of variety. Sure, it's ok for them to show modern classics like "Friends" and "Everybody Loves Raymond". I'm even ok with them airing original shows. But they need to mix them in with more CLASSICS from the 50s-90s, also. After all, variety is the spice of life.
And, NO, I don't count 3 or 4 hours of non stop "Gunsmoke" or "Bonanza" as classics. Enough already with airing the same shows in marathons or for hours at a time!

For some odd reason people seem to be watching
Penny Lane 02-18-2016, 12:09 AM I agree. Too many marathons. Wonder why they do that? I rarely watch Nick anymore and I don't watch TV Land very much because of their l-o-n-g commercial breaks! TV Land is the worst! I've seen up to 6 commercials in one break. That is way too many!

N@N has some long breaks too. Friends goes off around at 1am and Fresh prince starts at 1:06:lol:
tenter 02-18-2016, 12:59 PM N@N has some long breaks too. Friends goes off around at 1am and Fresh prince starts at 1:06:lol:
Yep, not just long breaks, but the length of most commercials between programming. Last year, the commercials were even more lengthed, like 8 min. break instead of just 5 min. commercials length.
tenter 02-18-2016, 04:59 PM What networks are you watching?
Sorry for late reply, actually I watch little Nickelodeon for SpongeBob little bit and some live action like Henry Danger and Nicky Ricky Dicky Dawn. But most of the time I go to my room for organizing and doing homework
Crusinforabrusin 02-18-2016, 05:09 PM What networks are you watching?
MeTv
Antenna Tv
INSP
Laff
Hallmark
Hallmark movies
TCM

Most networks on cable seem to thrive on marathons now. I rarely see them air just one episode of anything unto itself.
mets82 02-22-2016, 05:38 PM loaferman, your profile pic says it all.
D-Dey 02-25-2016, 01:11 PM My parents do. I for one have considered watching shows like "Impastor" and "Teachers," but I don't really believe they belong on TV Land.
tenter 02-25-2016, 02:39 PM My parents do. I for one have considered watching shows like "Impastor" and "Teachers," but I don't really believe they belong on TV Land.
Do you watch Nick@Nite
D-Dey 02-25-2016, 11:48 PM Lately, I haven't been watching Nick at all. They really declined after Victorious went off the air.
tooltime1987 03-27-2016, 09:27 PM I think Last Man Standing as well as Home Improvement should be added to Nick@Nite or TV Land.
Riley Martin 04-02-2016, 10:26 AM When they caved into the mass Confederate Flag hysteria and dropped the Dukes of Hazzard like a hot potato, I swore off TV Land once and for all. Another network ruined by MTV (MillennialTeleVision as I call it).
Svenfan1234 04-02-2016, 10:44 AM No. I don't even think TV Land is good anymore, and N@N needs to dump crap shows like Fresh Prince and add more classics.
tenter 04-02-2016, 11:19 AM nobody even watches the new TVLand 2016 since lot of commercials, and that goes for same as Nick at Nite. but like i said with George Lopez to come to TVLand soon, I wonder if Nick at Nite would remove George Lopez off the air, but I somehow doubt it..
TVFactFan 04-02-2016, 11:35 AM No. I don't even think TV Land is good anymore, and N@N needs to dump crap shows like Fresh Prince and add more classics.
we know
Crusinforabrusin 04-02-2016, 11:45 AM Since 2002, they have still aired the classics
You call George Lopez classic? Friends And Fresh Prince classic? More like trash. Except for Fresh Prince. I enjoy that show
MrCleveland 04-02-2016, 11:47 AM No. I don't even think TV Land is good anymore, and N@N needs to dump crap shows like Fresh Prince and add more classics.
BOTH stations only show shows no later than 1986...N@N and TV Land need to go back to showing more classic shows...but since they sold-out and only follow $$$...they'll go back to running classics when Cleveland wins a Championship!
Svenfan1234 04-02-2016, 11:50 AM we know
Get off my case. And we know what you think you twerp
TVFactFan 04-02-2016, 11:51 AM You call George Lopez classic? Friends And Fresh Prince classic? More like trash. Except for Fresh Prince. I enjoy that show
I don't consider Friends a classic but it is part of TV history. And Full House is trash to me
Svenfan1234 04-02-2016, 11:53 AM ^ Full House is good. Fresh Prince is trash and so is Friends
Crusinforabrusin 04-02-2016, 11:57 AM Full House is mediocre. It is a show geared towards children and young kids. It probably shouldn't be watched by adults
Svenfan1234 04-02-2016, 12:04 PM ^ I've never seen Full House, Fresh Prince or Friends, but what I have seen of them they look like pure and utter trash
TVFactFan 04-02-2016, 12:07 PM ^ Full House is good. Fresh Prince is trash and so is Friends
Your resume is trash:lol:
TVFactFan 04-02-2016, 12:08 PM Full House is mediocre. It is a show geared towards children and young kids. It probably shouldn't be watched by adults
It was trash when I was in 3rd grade
BigManMike 04-02-2016, 12:09 PM I like Full House and Fresh Prince and they fit fine on Nick at Nite. Friends and George Lopez are just fair and really don't belong there. The channel just needs more variety.
Svenfan1234 04-02-2016, 12:10 PM ^ Actually, to be honest, I've never seen Full House or Fresh Prince or Friends. I've seen a little of George Lopez, but I didn't care for what I saw of it. N@N and TV Land are just going to crap if they don't do anything about it.
Crusinforabrusin 04-02-2016, 12:22 PM And what's worse yet, is George Lopez is heading to TvLand for a marathon and possibly to stay on the schedule. Glad I don't watch that channel anymore
Svenfan1234 04-02-2016, 12:45 PM Your resume is trash:lol:
Your face is trash:lol:
Svenfan1234 04-02-2016, 12:47 PM And what's worse yet, is George Lopez is heading to TvLand for a marathon and possibly to stay on the schedule. Glad I don't watch that channel anymore
That is too bad. I don't like "George Lopez" at all. Good thing I don't watch TV Land anymore. Or N@N.
tenter 04-02-2016, 01:18 PM people have their own opinions. even if other people dont like to watch any shows or like these shows, ok. here's mine: i did say nobody watch TVLand because of commercials, and some shows. i never meant to be judgemental about it. I did watch Full House when I was a kid, but as of now, I sometimes watch those, but I just don't like it when watching Nick at Nite when it got outdated and same edits. I haven't watched Fresh Prince when I was a kid and haven't watched much since. I may check those out, but not at Nick at Nite because of sped up and big edits.
mets82 04-02-2016, 07:26 PM I would overhaul both channels. TVLand has some classics but again, off the clock programming, Gunsmoke being on. And on Saturday, Reba Marathon all day. Nick at Nite needs more than 4 shows. They burn through series and they haven't added shows in for forever.
Crusinforabrusin 08-26-2016, 02:53 PM You know what? We should all just forget about TvLand. We all know it's not what it use to be and there's no changing that. The best thing we can do is to move on from TvLand and focus on actual good channels like MeTV or Antenna TV. TvLand for me, is nothing more than a distant memory.
