Athletics are my team, have been since 1977. I think this is the year for the Cubs to finally break through, they might represent the National League in the MLCS (world series). We'll see.

I hope it's not, but 2016 very well could be the year of the Cubs. I wish the Cardinals would've made some better deals in the off season. Needless to say, I'm not happy about Lackey and Heyward both signing with the Cubs.

They are even better than the 1969 Cubs team that was led by five Hall of Famers.

...and did NOT win the World Series. I know you think 2016 is better(debatable, but not a debate for February), however in Cub land, nothing is guaranteed. By the way, what's Steve Bartman up to nowadays?

If the Cubs go to the world series this year, I think the appropriate opponent for them would be Cleveland. Both teams have gone a long time without winning a world series. If they would oppose each other in the WS, one of the teams would be guaranteed to end their long string of futility.

The Cubs are unstoppable. They are even better than the 1969 Cubs team that was led by five Hall of Famers. They will clinch the NL Central by Labor Day, then sweep the playoffs and the World Series. No other outcome is possible.

See I have a different angle on this. I am a "younger" Cubs fan (My 33rd season this year) and I have debated this topic with older Cubs fans forever it seems like. I think the loss of the NLCS in '84 and "03 was wayyyy worse than '69. '69 team really only lost the Eastern Division crown but the teams in '84 and '03 lost the National League Pennant. I do like your take on the playoffs but St. Louis isn't going to hand the division to the Cubs. Pittsburg still probably be in the race. I do say they will win the division, maybe the NL Pennant but still got to dethrone the Kansas City Royals. That's not going to be easy since they really play NL style small ball.

Real Cubs fans don't blame Steve Bartman. Yeah sure his interference didn't help but the real goat of that whole debacle in that fateful 8th inning was Alex Gonzales for not making a routine double play which would have still have the Cubs having a 3-1 lead.

It seems like Chicago is the destination where people want to go now. I'm excited about having a legitimate lead off man and a decent centerfielder. Also a #3 starter which the Cubs desperately needed.

Yeah I went to Wrigley with a friend of mine. She was wearing a Cardinals jersey and she got pelted with peanuts all night. I was wearing my Cubs jersey so I was fine. :)

I would say that would be a good matchup. I kind of want the Yankees because the Cubs never to this day have won a game in the Bronx. It'll be nice just to get some payback from past Cubs teams.

The Yankees have Starlin Castro now. What's the scouting report?

He is okay at the plate but his hits has been going down the last few years maybe that's because he was benched and used mostly as a backup last year. Defense...ehhhh if the Yankees are going to use him at short. I'd be a little worried. 138 E's in 6 years at SS by no means a Gold Glover.

He's pencilled in for 2B.

And if the Cubs make the Series, it has to be against the White Sox.

I would like to see that also as a payback for the 1906 World Series. Cubs winning this time of course. I don't think I want to be anywhere near Chicago if that series should happen again. Its bad enough with the 4-6 games they play during the regular season.
