Oh, and Batman '66. (Only 3 seasons, but since it ran twice a week for the first two, 120 episodes.)

The first show I think of is Happy Days. From the start of the second season on they literally screamed their lines. I did not pay much attention at the time, but now I cringe whenever I happen upon it. "Sit on it" got pretty old too.

SITCOMS:
The Lucy Show
Rhoda
It's a Living
Gimme a Break

OTHERS:
Police Woman
Wonder Woman
Charlie's Angels
Vega$
Queer as Folk (US)
Six Feet Under
Desperate Housewives
Glee

I think while sitcoms take a while for everything to click, one-hour dramas etc. seem to hit their stride almost immediately if the writing and casting are right.

Hangin With Mr. Cooper...the first season had a little more of an edge to it, even though it still aired at 8:30. In the second season, it moved to the TGIF lineup, and became a corny, family-friendly sitcom. Adding Raven Symone didn't help.

Add Family Matters to the list. It was much better before it became all about Urkel. The show's decline in quality closely mirrors that of Happy Days and The Fonz, and how the audience would go crazy anytime either one entered the room. Not a surprise, considering both shows had a lot of the same producers.

I would put Roseanne in this category too. I'm a fan of the series but I think the best season was the 1st.

Hangin wit Mr Cooper could have been the black Three's Company. Family Matters' first season you could tell was influenced by the cosby Show

I actually thought season 2 of "Sabrina" was the best.

Happy Days was good in its first season. After that it started to steadily decline.

Frasier also is one of those shows like Happy Days

Under the Dome is a good choice. Should have been a mini series.

Under the Dome is a good choice. Should have been a mini series.

I knew going in it was going to differ a lot from the book, so I was fine with that. But when they got to the 3rd season, it just got ridiculous. Characters were popping in and out of the dome constantly.

Ghost Whisperer -- I didn't like the dark turn it took in season 2.

In my opinion, where season 1 was the best season probably applies to majority of shows. I'd say 60% of shows.

30% is between season 2-4.

Then maybe 10% where a show is best at some point after season 4.

And majority of shows, the last season is the worst.

Of course there are certain exceptions. Game of Thrones, for example, seems pretty tight even in this last final season. However, the number of episodes is reduced where the writers can trim to make it more cohesive.

That's an uncommon opinion that Facts of Life was better in the first season, before Jo was in the picture. Most public fan memories of the show are from season 2 forward.

With A Different World, it also had a major cast change after season 1. It in first season certain episodes are too much indifferent from The Cosby Show. Don't get me wrong, I always liked Denise in the Huxtable family, liked Maggie (Marisa Tomei), but the too much of Denise as a kid didn't make A Different World special. I liked seasons 2-4, liked the additions of Kim and Freddie, and thought the show became its own by then.

I think by season 5, it could have tried going with a mixed race cast again, and at least had a story for Jaleesa (than having her disappear). I didn't like the direction of the last two years, especially the last year. But NBC already was set to kill it. It's interesting though the show now has some visibility many years later (Laff, BET, Amazon Prime).
