Okay, so, like, why did they even bother to put Pam on TCS? Nothin' against her (I've only seen her a couple of times on N@N recently, havin' not seen her since the show originally ran), I'm just curious as to why she's in the show.

I mean, there was already a girl in that age range---Vanessa (my favorite)---and there were certainly enough characters of a great variety. So how did Pam come about, and why?

From what I remember, the producers wanted to bring in a character who didn't have as privileged an upbringing as the other Huxtable kids, for contrast.

I know what you mean. To me Pam was a very unneccessary part of The Cosby show. I think that's when I started to lose interest because I didn't find her character all that interesting.
