Mark Evanier reports that veteran voice actor Joe Alaskey passed away on February 3, 2016 (http://www.newsfromme.com/2016/02/03/joe-alaskey-r-p/), at the age of 63 due to cancer. Mr. Alaskey’s career in voiceover began as an impressionist, making his mark to replicate Jackie Gleason to fix audio in re-discovered episodes of the classic TV sitcom The Honeymooners. His impersonation eventually extended to on-screen portrayals as Jackie Gleason, as well as guest spots in several other animated projects. He was also the inheritor of many of Mel Blanc’s Looney Tunes characters, voicing Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, and Foghorn Leghorn in various projects, earning an Emmy award in 2004 for his portrayal of Daffy in the Duck Dodgers TV series. Among his other most notable roles were Grandpa Lou Pickles in Nickelodeon’s Rugrats and its spinoff series and Droopy the Dog in numerous recent Tom and Jerry projects.
