View Full Version : Ever get addicted to show by accident??
Nordy 01-24-2016, 12:08 AM I will tell the story of how I started watching Gilmore Girls. My friend told me about the show one day. It was Tuesday and had nothing else to watch and watched my 1st episode of Gilmore Girls Season 7, Episode 4 'S Wonderful, 'S Marvelous and became instantly addicted. I started watching every time it came on and rented the DVDs until I bought them. Anyone else have done this???
OH Nuts! 01-24-2016, 12:23 AM I did. I was watching a bunch of Xmas eps on Antenna TV and watched five WINGS eps. I was smitten! I have the first five seasons checked out from my library.
danderson400 01-24-2016, 02:54 PM i would say "Hull High" I saw that show by accident after the Houston at San Diego NFL game on NBC instead of changing the channel to CBS to watch "60 Minutes"(I wasn't really interested in "60 Minutes" anyway)
Becca3557 01-24-2016, 03:51 PM Judging Amy. I was home from work during a medical leave of absence and one of the cable networks was running it in the early afternoon. I've always liked Tyne Daly and the show really drew me in. Another network is running it now.
Patty Duke 01-24-2016, 08:00 PM I'm guilty. I was never a fan of Reba McEntire but one day I was flipping channels and nothing else was on. The show 'Reba' had been on for a few years already, I just never watched. I found myself laughing and I watched it from that point on. I even bought the series after it ended. My favorite people on the show were Van and Barbara Jean the annoying neighbor who was also married to Reba's ex. You really wanted to smack her at times but most of the time I found it impossible not to like her. LOL
I still don't really care for Reba but to me that was one funny show.
Schmoopie 01-26-2016, 02:54 AM The Good Wife-started watching last season because of David Hyde Pierce and am still watching. Got hooked on the first episode of Season 6 and DHP didn't even appear till about the 6th or 7th episode. It's not nearly as good this season but I'm still watching it. I've watched all of the subsequent episodes as well.
Frasier-Started watching out of curiosity because of a story about Niles and Daphne that Kristen wrote and wanted me to read back in 2010. I never watched Frasier when it was in prime time because I'd always hated Cheers and I figured that Frasier was going to be just like it (For the record I do like Cheers now) but I started watching for the heck of it and after only five episodes I was hooked. I blame David Hyde Pierce for being so completely adorable!
One Life to Live-started watching in December of 2003 because Matthew Ashford of Days of Our Lives was doing a temporary role as Dr. Stephen Haver and during his role I fell in love with the story involving Kathy Brier and Nathaniel Marston. Watched faithfully and even met the cast members twice in the span of two years. Didn't intend to keep watching after Matthew Ashford left, but that's exactly what happened.

Anyone else have done this???A decade ago when I first got cable I watched 7th Heaven a lot when it was weeknights at 6:00 and 7:00 on ABCFamily. I would sometimes see a few minutes before it started, that show at 5:00 was Gilmore Girls. I wanted to see more of Rory so I started watching it more and became a fan.

scrapple 01-26-2016, 10:24 PM In the mid-Eighties, I broke my leg and was bedridden for weeks. While flipping through channels one afternoon, I stumbled onto a fascinating courtroom scene in a soap opera. I always laughed at people who watched soaps, but the scene (and the acting!) was so good, I had to tune in the next day (and the day after that, and the day after that..) The show was As The World Turns, and I ended up sticking with it for the next 25 years.
